Dame Andrea Jenkyns is the first to submit a letter of no confidence in Sunak, and she is openly encouraging others to do the same. Will Suella Braverman's scathing letter to Sunak push Tory backbenchers to submit letters of no confidence, or will they rally around Sunak. Either way this is weapons grade good news for Labour. Sunak is a lame PM.

"Tory in name only" Yes indeed well put. Perhaps we do need five years of Labour government to show people just how much we need a proper centre right Conservative party. But I do worry about the damage five years of a pro EU, pro immigrant, pro net-zero Labour government will have. Getting back to the OP, if the required number of letters go in, could we see another PM before the next election? It sounds ridiculous but it's certainly not impossible. Personally I think Sunak is toast and he'll be gone sooner rather than later. |

That's another meaningless insult used by people who believe only *their* wing of a group has the "correct" view. The "in name only" thing is only ever used by the most extreme wing of a group. In America, trump cultists throw "Republican In Name Only" at anyone who doesn't buy into the wholehearted support of the Dear Leader. The Corbynista rump of Labour will commonly denounce the likes of me as "Tory Lite" or "Blue Labour". I've no doubt that ISIS see themselves as the only "true" Muslims, and everyone else as heretics. Saying that one group of Tories, or Labourites, or whatever, is pretty much the same as the Plymouth Brethren calling the C of E "Christian In Name Only". |
