What would the armed forces do if faced with a flood of white working class males, their selection and promotion system is only geared up for BAME shirt lifters and transformers, perhaps the five seconds it took Sunak to dream this rubbish up didn't address this.

It is a good idea for youngsters seeking to opt out not so great if you are speeding ahead with studying or a career, Would an 18yrs old Rooney be doing this? Would an Oxbridge student be expected to do this? Socialism = one size fits all.
Tories are now champions of socialism.

"Five or fewer Black Caribbean, Asian officers ranked colonel or above Information released by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) shows the sparse representation of BAME (black, Asian and minority ethnic) personnel in the senior ranks of the military. Following a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, the department revealed there were five or fewer Asian or Afro Caribbean personnel across all three services holding the rank of colonel or above. Those representing these ethnicities were all found in the Army, with nobody holding equivalent ranks in the Royal Navy or RAF, as of 1 July 2021." www.forces.net/news/five-or-fewer-black-caribbean-asian-officers-ranked-colonel-or-above

It looks like we are facing defeat, so lets try a nonsensical, populist idea which will please the "Gammons" All I see is Hamas boy referring to us as pig meat again. After all, there's nothing popular about fighting a war for the EU Reich.
"witchfinder started following you. less than a minute ago" - why? Nevermind, I stopped it.

When I was 14 and at Grammar school they began to prepare us for National Service. There was a distinct favouritism shown by some of the teachers towards boys whose physique and attitude suggested they would make "good soldiers" (Our French teacher had been in the French Resistance and had noticeable "psychopathic traits"). When I was 16 I worked with someone who had been traumatised by his National Service experiences in Kenya. I just missed out on having to be "taught to kill". I think I might have made a good sniper though as I seldom missed the bulls-eye with a 22 rifle at the club I went to .. despite having only one good eye. Nowadays, I suppose, I could be trained to take out the enemy whilst operating a drone and sipping coffee in a comfortable environment? Maybe a "National Service" for us oldies would give us "something to carry on living for"?

Rishi Sunak says he will bring back National Service if Tories win general electionRishi Sunak has said he will introduce a new form of mandatory National Service for young people if the Conservatives win the general election. In the first new policy announcement of the campaign, the prime minister has unveiled a plan that would see 18-year-olds given the choice of a full-time military placement for 12 months or a scheme to volunteer for one weekend a month for a year. The placement would be selective - with tests used to decide who is eligible - and involve working with the armed forces or in cyber defence. The voluntary option would see young people spending 25 days with organisations such as the police, the fire service, the NHS, or charities that work with older isolated people. news.sky.com/story/sunak-says-he-will-bring-back-national-service-if-tories-win-general-election-13143184This is absolute nonsense. Sunak will not bring back 'national service' in any meaningful sense, or national service as we know it. It would be impossible in todays woke environment. National service was for a minimum of 18 months in the armed forces. Not 'up to' 25 days over a year on some mamby pamby course in which the instructors will inevitably see their fat pampered and bored charges as a pain in the arse. This is nothing more than a publicity stunt. In other words just another gimmick......and the young people forced to work a number of weekends for free will be as annoyed about having to do that as any of the rest of us would be and it will go down like a lead balloon amongst this age group. And it is rather ill though out on another level, that people don't work at weekends already. Many - including many young people - in fact already do

Sunak can promise anything he likes, he's not going to be around long enough to deliver on it. Which seems to be one of the very rare statements around here that everyone agrees with, lol

Judging by the across the spectrum reactions here, I doubt this gimmick will be a vote winner for them, and looks like an act of utter desperation by a leadership in panic.

I specifically mentioned the promotion system.
