Had modern forensic techniques existed in 1974 Stefan Kiszko would have been released without charge on the basis of DNA evidence and the search would have continued. It wasn't until 2006 that Ronald Castree the real murderer was caught and convicted using DNA evidence. And I would support Ronald Castree being hanged because of the 100% DNA match tying him to the murder. Don’t be so sure, the police and prosecution knew 16years ago there was dna evidence against another man but said nowt so Andrew Malkinson languished in jail, mistakes aren’t unknown as here the man was charged with rape but couldn’t possibly have done it www.channel4.com/news/dna-contamination-blamed-on-human-errorThere’s also this, people have blind faith that dna evidence is infallible it isn’t. rogue lab and staff and had we capital punishment the results are obvious and what could’ve happened. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/lab-technicians-manchester-suspected-tampering-13933228

If we cannot guarantee accuracy every time, then whole life is the next best thing. But whole life in prison, shouldn't be comfy life, it should be punishment. It should be unpleasant. Lucy Letby murdered at least seven babies. She needs to be punished, properly. An austere cell, with nothing nice about it whatsoever. She needs to be constantly reminded of what she's done and that there are consequences.

I thought we had done this, punishment is not designed to be a deterrent, it's a punishment. How you can possibly think that executing a mass murderer is revenge rather than punishment, is something of a mystery to me. However, regardless of how wrong you are, and you are, I accept you are entitled to an opinion. Loss of liberty is the punishment. Wanting the death penalty or harsh conditions in jail is just retribution. A prison is not supposed to be a hotel. It is a place of punishment.
Wanting punishment for those who have deliberately caused multiple deaths is natural. Wanting to reward someone who has deliberately killed and killed again is bonkers.
Any luxury in prison, is a reward. There shouldn't be so much as sugar in the prison kitchen. No seasoning, no condiments.
Bland food. No nice colours, no soft cushions, no TV, no niceties at all. A place of punishment for one who sadistically snuffed out the lives of babies.

Prison is a place of confinement. Punishment is a Victorian concept. You think people should not be punished?

Prison is a place of confinement. Punishment is a Victorian concept. You think people should not be punished? I think they should be confined and if possible rehabilitated.

You think people should not be punished? I think they should be confined and if possible rehabilitated. OK, in your opinion someone who placed a bomb in a market which killed 30 people and maimed and injured many more, should in your opinion not be punished, but rehabilitated. Is that correct?

They should be confined. That is a punishment. You are a disgrace. You display everything that is wrong with this country. You are a weak appeaser. If people like you were in charge this country would be an even bigger shit tip than it is today.

Prison is a place of confinement. Punishment is a Victorian concept. Perhaps the nation would be a better place with some Victorian values?

Prison is a place of confinement. Punishment is a Victorian concept. The arguments between confinement, protection, punishment and rehabilitation will go on until the end of time. For her, she cannot be rehabilitated, as she claims she did nothing. She may need extra confinement for her own protection. Killing, maiming and causing brain damage to infants really is not popular amongst society, which includes those locked up.

Prison is a place of confinement. Punishment is a Victorian concept. We rehabilitate thieves, junkies, people who have committed forgivable crimes once their sentence is served and we help them get jobs so they do not reoffend. But mass murderers we keep in prison for the rest of their lives and there is no need for their stay to be a pleasant one. Their victims have no such luxury. Their victims can't watch television. Their victims can't play games. The Victorians were right.

If you then though understand that people do perhaps the worst of crimes because their mind is not functioning normally. It appears as evil behaviour, there are cases when people have suffered a brain injury which has changed the way they behaved before, the comparison I'm trying to make here is if somebody suffers a physical injury no one would contemplate punishing them if they could no longer function as a normal member of society if somebody’s mind is injured sure isolate them if they are a danger to society but there’s no need to make their lives as unpleasant as possible, doing that is Victorian values. You should also know that the mentally ill are in general more at risk from the rest of society than vice versa.
