Capital punishment works perfectly well and this specific case seems to fit the punishment. The problem with this punishment is the system behind it, where, in some cases, convictions can and will rely on witness testimony alone without any further evidence. Innocent people will be wrongly executed. No it doesn’t,you do know the evidence in her case is at best based on circumstance,as for witness statements “I came in and she was staring in to space” Those who recieve this punishment in the USA are left for years or even decades without knowing when that day will come. In other countries it is more immediate. It works perfectly well as a punishment.

No murderer who has been roped has ever re-offended, or cost the taxpayer a fortune. It does work as a punishment. And these days with advanced forensics, it's possible to very accurately know when someone is verifiably guilty beyond any shadow of a doubt.

Is it? Why to make you feel better and what if someone is then proved to be innocent? Shrug your shoulders and say these things happen. In any event capital punishment doesn’t work and belongs in the past. You think at some point in the future Letby may be proved innocent? I suspect you didn't follow the case all that closely. Or, you have a very flimsy grip on reality. And sadly your grip on reality and what is largely circumstantial evidence shows you didn’t follow it that closely. I haven’t said she’s innocent,if you’d followed this and other threads you’d have seen I doubt the evidence. Even if she is guilty she is then mentally unbalanced and should be confined for society’s and her protection.

Not just revenge, deterrent so the next would be killer can see what would await them. Rest of life in a luxury prison, isn't a deterrent. It wouldn't stop them. Deterrents don't deter or countries with death penalties would have no murders. You think the next mentally ill guy with a gun in the US is going to stop and think ''but what if I end up in a prison without brightly coloured soft furnishings'' and decide against going on a killing spree?

At the very least it would save the taxpayer decades of paying to look after a prisoner at over £80k per year.
We know this bitch is guilty. There's no doubt whatsoever.
I hope another prisoner kills her and saves us a fortune.

You've gone right back to the psychiatric argument. You do understand that they obviously found her fit enough to be tried, right?

She was sane enough to pass uni, fool doctors and get a job. She also fooled family and friends.
She's not a fruitcake, she's evil.

No it isn’t why I brought it up I was trying to ascertain your take on this,I didn’t say you had to reply. People have been tried before and subsequently transferred to a mental health unit. Sadly there are too many people with mental health issues in UK prisons who have committed much lesser crimes and really belong elsewhere.

The death penalty was not designed to be a deterrent. It was designed to be a punishment. And that's the problem with hand wringing lefties today, they have forgotten that prison first and foremost is supposed to be a punishment.

The Malkinson case shows that miscarriages of justice do inevitably slip through.
The jury decided Letby was guilty and we must trust them to have made the right decision having heard all the evidence - we didn't. The fact that it took them over 100 hours of deliberation suggests it wasn't quite the open and shut case some here would have us believe. Nonetheless she has been found guilty of unfathomable crimes.
I hope our country never again demeans itself by deliberately taking the life of a human being - albeit one who has committed dreadful crimes - purely as an act of revenge.

If a dog kills a child, you put it down. Not because of revenge, not because it's to be cruel, but because it has killed. There are humane ways to hang criminals.
Albert Pierrepoint used maths to work out mass, rope requirements including strength, length of drop, he knew how to instantly and humanely end the life of a killer.
I get the argument against the death sentence, one innocent sent to the gallows cannot be un-hanged. But, there's no argument for giving convicts a cushy time.
They're in prison to be punished.

They look like daycare centres where some lefties are fighting for the protection of a serial baby killer. Is it about her or them?

However, in cases where there is no question of guilt the judge should have the option of donning the black cap.

They have more sympathy for the killer than they have for the killers victims.
