EV sales targets will cost jobs, warn Nissan and Vauxhall, as demand plunges and car makers slash prices... Labour is considering ways to help struggling car makers meet electric vehicle sales targets by looking into 'flexibilities', as manufacturers warn of pulling production from the UK. Transport Secretary Louise Haigh and Business Secretary Joshua Reynolds will meet with car industry representatives on Wednesday to discuss ways to help beleaguered firms meet the strict Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate (ZEV) thresholds introduced this year. Many car makers are struggling to meet the binding targets, introduced by the Tories and continued by Labour, which require more than a fifth of all sales by mainstream manufacturers to be EVs this year. Failure to adhere to the 22 per cent threshold could result in fines of £15,000 per car below the target - and some manufacturers are said to be reaching 'crisis point' as the year end draws closer. Some car makers - including Vauxhall-owner Stellantis - have threatened to pull production from the UK entirely amid the row over sales targets, while Nissan is expected to warn MPs that it could do the same if no Government support is provided. This comes after the Chancellor did little to help incentivise EV uptake in the October Budget..... www.dailymail.co.uk/money/electriccars/article-14095885/Ministers-consider-relaxing-rules-force-car-makers-sell-EVs-warn-EV-sales-targets-wont-weakened.html

Poor buggers, its a bit like when Saab went and no one would make parts for them. At least a company has bought the remaining fleet and more importantly the software, so glitch fixes and updates will continue.

Making it illegal has not sorted the problem out, hence further actions are necessary. Racism was and is still at work. So obviously a little temporary push in the right direction is likely to help. And few reasonable people are likely to complain, spinning it into reverse racism. If after 50years of failure you wish to complain, then you need to come up with an answer, otherwise you are seen to be condoning racism. Theft has been illegal for thousands of years yet still occurs frequently, what we do not do is steal off innocent people to compensate those who have been victims of theft. I do not think anyone is condoning theft if they do not come up with an answer. We also have the problem as regards racism that assumptions are made as regards who is a victim of racism based solely on the colour of their skin and to make it worse as the perpetrators of that racism based solely on the colour of their skin. The evidence you present that racism still occurs in anything other than small doses seems to be largely that representation is below that which one would expect of specific races yet we know where merit is the sole consideration in places like sports then merit selection throws up disparities in representation. If racism occurs apply the legal process that is the answer you seek, if it is not racism then that tends not to work. You are good at distorting reality in a way that attempts to make you appear to be being genuine. You are not genuine, you just deviate and deviate. Your second point is utter nonsense. Those who had to make a judicial judgement on racism in the Yorkshire Cricket Club case had no problem in deciding and came down very clearly on racism in that club. It is only when such cases as the YCC come to light that we gat an insight into the level of racism in society. If there wasn't a problem we would not be discussing it, and actions would not be needed to reduce it with the hope of eliminating any judgment based upon race alone. I suspect that the objection to the leveling up of opportunities in all areas of society, not just in sport, is based upon the ownership of racism under the skin of those who object.

The EU have been debating on how to avoid a looming depression that goes beyond the EU.

But it might depend on the job, i.e. if a black person needed a carer and requested one that was also a black person because they feel more comfortable with the personal aspects of the job, and ditto with a white person. I can't imagine many people getting upset about that.

Believe me see2 , you cannot insist that your carers are white .
