I can't vouch for the following its just something I picked up from a Local Newspaper I sometimes read.
A remarkable milestone achieved in the production of clean electricity. "August 2024 saw the lowest monthly level of electricity generation by burning fossil fuels for over a century. Wind turbines plying a staring role. Wind and Solar energy combined provided more than double the power of Gas and Coal in August. Total emissions from electricity generation in the year to August were almost halved when compared with 2019. This month the UK closed the last coal plant used for generating electricity, a year early.

Net zero nuts are congratulating themselves a bit early . When gas boilers and ICE vehicles are turned off there could be serious issues regarding electricity supply.
