Not quite. He pays for such things from funds raised as Membership Fees by his "Private Company Pretending To Be A Political Party" - Reform. Another nice scam he has going. All The Best So you admit then that it isn't bribes by the rich... I admit no such thing. I'll go as far as to say he hasn't YET been caught taking back-handers; but I am sure time will tell. All The Best

Hang on, so parliament is just some optional thing and the feelings of the Labour leader is paramount, and that we are just supposed to believe he would have won anyway? It's no wonder Labour is so widely despised today. Labour are despised today and yesterday and last year, and the decade before etc. etc. because of the easily led nature of people like yourself who never learnt to think for themselves. People who have swallowed Tory propaganda as reality and now live in their own little political cocoon.

They got 35 percent of the vote because in a democracy only those who bother to vote actually count towards the outcome. But no I am not happy with it because I believe in PR. If we had a fair voting system Labour wouldn't even have a majority. And just so you know, I myself didn't actually vote Labour. But all that is a separate point. In any parliamentary vote, only the majority in parliament actually counts. Which is why a debate there on the Chagos islands will make no difference whatsoever due to Labour's massive majority in parliament. How it got that majority could be questioned by those of us wanting democratic reform. But it changes nothing insofar as the reality of bums on seats in parliament right now is concerned. But I expect you will kneejerk another ill thought out response devoid of real understanding. You could have fooled me...And wasn't it both labour and the lib-dems who voted against PR when they had the chance? You show your ignorance again. We have never had a vote on PR, just a more complicated version of FPTP. The Lib Dems backed it, the Tories voted against it, and Labour was split on it

A treaty that rights a long standing wrong does not constitutionally require legislation or therefore the approval of parliament. Oppositions can however force debates on issues that the government might choose not to waste time on, they have a certain number of opportunities to do this. But were it to come to any kind of vote, Labour would win it anyway. So the entire exercise would be pointless, just an opportunity for more hot air and petty point scoring. If the opposition want to use one of their limited opportunities to open a parliamentary debate, they would be best advised to save it for an issue that matters much more to to everyday lives of our own people. I am a little surprised at your tendency lately to kneejerk your way onto every passing right wing band wagon, but I guess you are entitled to your views. Why thank you so much. So ignoring the wishes of the islanders is a right wing bandwagon? And I’m surprised that you as a Corbyn supporter so readily jump to the defence of Starmer It is not right wing to be alarmed at the disregard for parliament and any standards because don’t forget it is steamer and co who were shouting from the rooftops about sleaze and accepting so called gifts,it’s no use coming back with this or that Tory took a gift,it is the here and now. The thing is and I’ve said this for a long time you know where you are with the tories but labour project all upstanding there’ll be no sleaze on our watch and they’re as bent as a nine bob note. You know I am no fan of Starmer and didn't vote Labour - I am on record as warning countless times what a lying bastard he can be, and my disdain for these centrist careerists for whom no principle is sacred is well known. I have shared a party with these types after all and have seen how they think and operate close up. I shouldn't have to and will not explain my credentials to you. But neither will I hop on to every passing right wing bandwagon. Now they have been elected I intend to give them a fair chance, criticising where they deserve it and praising anything I agree with. And I am glad they have finally addressed the running sore of this issue and finally attempted to right a wrong. They could and should however have involved the Chagossians themselves much more in the discussions. But addressing their concerns in a flawed way is better than not addressing them at all.

This is why their credibility is so low and rock bottom even amongst their own, and why See2 spends his entire existence on here screaming abuse for attention.

If you had a brain you would fully understand why Labour credibility is low at the moment, but all you are interested in is mindless bias, derogative comments and apparently telling lies about me. Probably about 12 months ago I got a bit fed up with the lies, derogation and false insinuations etc. repeatedly posted by Rightist who are definitely not a full shilling, and decided to give them a taste of their own medicine. They don't like it one bit and I take their insults as a compliment to my fairness and reasonability in fighting fire with fire

The Lib Dems backed it, the Tories voted against it, and Labour was split on it linkAlternative Vote isn't Proportional Representation. The main parties that effectively function as one are opposed to both, because it would disrupt their dominance and undermine the dictatorship imposed by the civil service.

Can ANYONE please explain what it is that Farage wants ? I mean, for what possible purpose to the advantage of the UK could owning an Atol, a group of remote islands in the Indian Ocean be to the UK. ? Why does Farage not grasp or understand that the deal as negotiated between Mauritius and the UK solves almost all of the outstanding issues - Mauritius regains sovereignty of its stolen territory - the islanders can now go home if they wish to - the United States retains its base - the UK is no longer in conflict with the UN, the International Court and the government of Mauritius. The government are to be congratulated on solving a long standing dispute which has dragged on for 50 years Honestly, you're a pillock. You refer to "a group of remote islands" without, it would seem having any insight into their strategic importance. Or the fact that Mauritius is heavily in debt to, and heavily influenced by Beijing who are looking for air and naval sites in the Indian ocean. Try looking further than the end of your nose.

As far as I'm aware the move is designed to guarantee the US a 99 year guarantee of the base on the island. Following the existing practice could see them lose the base in the foreseeable future.
