I hope I have not duplicated a thread
From today Express
Nigel Farage says MPs must be permitted to scrutinise the details of Sir Keir Starmer's deal to hand over sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius - describing the decision as a "surrender".
However, Stephen Doughty, who as Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories has day-to-day responsibility for the issue, has dismissed concerns over the future of Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands.
Mr Farage, posting on X, said: "Parliament must be able to scrutinise Starmer's decision to hand over the Chagos Islands - before a treaty is signed.
"I have written to @davidlammy to request an urgent debate and a vote in the House on Monday.
"This surrender was not in the Labour manifesto."
And was done when the House was not sitting

The people of the Falkland Islands wish to remain British citizens, as do the people of Gibraltar, and this cannot be connected to the disgracefull way in which the UK treated the inhabitants of The Chagos Islands.
Its people that matter NOT geography
The Chagosian people have campaigned for decades for a fair outcome, and for recognition of what this country did to them.
The UK purposely created The British Indian Ocean Territory as a separate colony to Mauritius for the sole purpose of leasing the largest island to the Yanks, the Chagos Islands always were part of Mauritius, and the International Court of Justice has ordered for them to be returned.
The Primeminister does not have to answer to anyone over abiding by an international court ruling, least of all that shithouse Nigel Farage.

The Chagosians were not involved in any talks and were not consulted, however in the light of Starmer giving away sovereign British territory without the permission of the British parliament, it has emerged that many Chagosians do not want to relocate to the Chagos Islands and those who may be willing to return have said they will only relocate if they can retain British citizenship. In other words, fuck Mauritius. As for Mauritius, it's a corrupt country that's heavily influenced and in financial debt to Beijing. Starmer should not resign. He should be dismissed and charged with crimes against the United Kingdom. The man is incompetent and clearly out of his depth.

No point in having a Parliament then, we should just leave Starmer, Raynor, Lammy and Reeves to run the Country on their own as they see fit I suppose. Starmer is as evil as Blair, both wish to do the Country done. I dare say China gave Starmer free tickets to Love Island if he handed the keys over.

Handing them over to Mauritius (who have always treated them like shit) is not what the Chagosian people have campaigned for. This is the issue that I am most surprised of - a Labour Party that does not even involve the peoples of the islands in the discussions and takes no notice of their views. Robin Cook and his 'ethical foreign policy' will be spinning in his grave.

The International Court of Justice ruled that the Chagos Islands should be returned back to Mauritius.
The fact that Maritius will now have sovereignty over the islands means that the Chagosian people who were forcably removed by the British will be able to go back to their homeland if they so choose.
It was the British who expelled the Chagosian Islanders to Mauritius, against their will.
THe UK government at the time behaved disgracefully and now the wrong has been put right at last, thanks to the new government.

Remoaners cried to put Brexit before parliament, I couldn't give two hoots how territories were obtained, giving sovereignity away of any territory should be put forward to parliament and the inhabitants as a referendum, and not treated as a joke.
But no surprise there, Labour are a joke, what a mess.

Time to wake up folks. _"About 60 years ago, the United Kingdom government secretly planned, with the United States, to force an entire Indigenous people, the Chagossians, from their homes in the Chagos Archipelago. The Indian Ocean islands were part of Mauritius, then a UK colony. The two governments agreed that a US military base would be built on Diego Garcia, the largest of the inhabited Chagos islands, and the island’s inhabitants would be removed." www.hrw.org/report/2023/02/15/thats-when-nightmare-started/uk-and-us-forced-displacement-chagossians-and
