Posters here mention the anomalies when it comes to legal age So how about the greatest anomaley of all - You have to be 18 to vote, but 21 to be a candidate ? No you dont - 18 is all that is required. I do beg your pardon - I had not realised that the age qualification had changed |

Or enter into a legal contract , you need parental permission to get married You can't get married at all until 18 years old in the UK now. It's OK to have any form of sex at 16 though, which is lamentable. I'm sure a few on here believe 9 to be an appropriate age. |
