The point is that 'Net Zero' is a law passed by a Conservative government, that means we are stuck with it unless it is once again modified to suit reality as has already been done at least once and can be done again, or it is deleted and is no longer the law. I gave you my answer to Labour's position on Net Zero in my previous post. Net zero policies are only passed in England by a tory government , and on those areas which are reserved uk wide. In Scotland and Wales , net zero has been implemented by both labour , and the snp on devolved matters. So please stop talking utter nonsense , get yourself out of the nineties bubble , and come into the 21 st century . Clearly the argument Andrew Neil lis making is this isn't a single party issue , for example you moaning about the tories. It's about a multi party issue , that is causing problems across the western world while china and others laugh at us. Labour are fully behind the green agenda , and arguably looking at the madness in Wales , will probably make net zero policies that are even more damaging than the snp and tories. Net Zero Is UK Law. It Is A UK Law not an individual policy, unless you can prove otherwise. Your final point is an Opinion. Whether you like it or not, green energy is the future, and Labour are serious for a couple of reasons already mentioned, about making making a success of it. No government is going to ruin the UK economy because of Green energy. Anyone who thinks that any government would, stopped thinking when they put their politically bias hat on.

--"and fear that the government may have left it too late."-- link ^^^ A Labour government will likely need to do at least three things. 1. Set apprenticeships in progress. 2. Send out the message to many skilled people who have either retired early or are under 75 years old. 3. Do what New Labour had to do and advertise for skilled personnel from abroad.

Well interestingly it's put Starmer/Labour in catch-22. They are the party of net zero, with their ULEZ zones 20 mph zones, now how is flip flop going to get out of this one, political point score with job losses or praise the government for its spearheading net zero policies. While no one wants any one to lose their jobs, especially these numbers, but the likes of JSO and the eco warriors, Labour/Lib-dems/greens they can't have it all ways, it's all a big con as far as I'm concerned, we are now paying more stealth taxes than taxes. The Tories introduced 'net zero'. But Port Talbot’s business is a DEVOLVED matter, and Wankford has spent every minute since he was handed his current post, and currently plans to spend 80% of his budget on a self proclaimed ‘climate emergency’ You can’t pin this on the tories They’ve had fuck all to do with welsh business for 24 years. Christ, Moira still looked decent in a bikini back when she still worked for Nicholas Edwards, which was the last time welsh business was the UK Parliament’s business

Andrew neil points out in his article as well as punitive green taxes , the idea all these green jobs are going to replace existing jobs is nothing short of an utter fantasy. No is the answer to your question on the evidence we have so far.

Its far more comfortable for blairite labour to try and ignore devolution , and their parties record in Wales , and previously Scotland and sit in their anti tory niche playing two party politics .

you posted two links ya Maddy ,(while liking your own post ego much ) one is a link to government services , the other page not found. are you seriously trying to argue in the face of all the evidence that net zero policies are devolved? doesn't even the London mayor have control off net zero policy in his own city? Oddly enough, and I don't know why this happens, but if you copy and past the link that doesn't open and put it into search at the top of the page, it does open. My information posted proves that Net Zero IS a Law and that no matter how different areas deal with it they must aim at resolving the problem by 2050. That is the present position by Law. You really should stop denying the obvious truth.

Tata claims it has run at a loss for ten years, so AFAIA changes proposed are not for Greening purposes only, they are designed to make the business profitable.
