Ed Davey is 'the poster boy' ... for the most far left liberal snowflake, virtue signalling, woke, diverse figure head we will ever have the misfortune to be head of a political UK party, namely the Lib-Dems.
Thankfully, if any good has come out of this absolute travesty of justice, that the likes of self-righteous Ed Davey and his 'liberalism' has now been exposed for EXACTLY what he/it STANDS FOR. ..... Double standard, hypocritical low life, self serving, self absorbed, preaching tyrants.
He was only one in many governments under whose watch this injustice happened and continued. Ed Davey & Co are endlessly self-righteous, but history shows the Lib Dems are the dirtiest street fighters in politics

Discussing this over lunch with some friends (as no doubt many people have been doing) one remarked that surely someone with half a brain must have questioned the fact that postmasters were suddenly fiddling the books en masse. Maybe not. Maybe brain cells are not a prerequisite for employment in the higher echelons of he post office.

I guess we rely on the press to hear this, my brother told me solicitors acting for the postmasters were telling them to plead guilty as there were no other cases just theirs. If true is shocking and opens up a box or worms...........

Apparently there is a legal presumption that a machine (or software) is working correctly unless it can be demonstrated otherwise. This seems reasonable, but you would have thought that the hidden sanity clause in all law would apply here - ie There is a legal presumption that a machine (or software) is working correctly unless it is producing bizarre, barely credible output.

I doubt that the people in charge had any idea how widespread the problem was and thought that if they covered it up for long enough it would go away . The more widespread it become , the more desperate they became , At what point do you do the decent thing and admit that you covered it up? A year, five years ? , two decades? When you know that admitting it loses your house and pension , you have nothing to lose.

To be honest most of us would have laughed at this 'far fetched stuff of fiction', to think this happened in real life is quite frankly mind blowing.

At the enquiry today “Fujitsu’s knew in 1999 that there were bugs errors and defects in the system called horizon and that post office prosecuted people and witness statements of Fujitsu employees were edited to remove that (crucial) evidence .
It wasn’t just deplorable it was criminal and whoever did it needs to pay the price in a criminal court.

I wonder if they could make a manslaughter charge stick for the guy who walked in front of a vehicle to kill himself.

Doesn't this demonstrate that incompetence is ignored and rewarded in this country? Former post office boss apologises over horizon debacle,he went on to oversee the (less than) smart motorway scheme another shambles that has seen people lose their lives and traffic chaos one of his representatives as I recall appeared on tv to tell us all that smart motorways were safer and better than those with a hard shoulder, clearly they think we are stupid and treat us as such. Mr Muppet then went on to try and fill his boots at the failed sale of LV a mutual where a few planned to line their pockets to the detriment of many. link
