As they say, 'Hope springs eternal...'
If it were to come to another referendum, millions of British expats will be able to vote next time.

That's disgraceful.

But you were quite happy for millions of Commonwealth citizens like Mohammed who had just arrived from Pakistan the week before to vote last time?

Is that why you're cut?

Ex pats are allowed to vote in UK national elections without time limits of absence (previously 15 years) since last week. It was a Tory promise and has come into practice. Good, eh?

Why should an ex Brit be able to interfere in the democratic affairs of a country he no longer wishes to live in?

By the way token, just like Buccaneer you are quite relaxed about extending the full franchise to Mohammed the Pakistani who just arrived last week simply because the country he came from is a member of the Commonwealth?
To help you decide this knotty problem, you should also know that Mohammed homeland would not reciprocate for British citizens resident there. Only a handful of Commonwealth countries do, mostly tiny islands in the Caribbean.

IF Mohammed the Pakistani has skills, is of good character and has no criminal record, then Mohammed the Pakistani might be a better choice than Dariusz the white killer from an EU country who enjoyed the freedom of movement of the EU and murdered in several nations. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dariusz_Kotwica

Bit of a swerve there Vinny, we're discussing eligibility to vote in national elections not employment prospects or criminal record. Mohammed can do that but Dariusz can't, and nor could British citizens resident abroad until very recently.
Do you think it's a good thing that millions of Commonwealth citizens from countries like Pakistan, Nigeria, India, Cameroon and Mozambique should have the full right to vote in all British elections, even though British citizens resident there don't have reciprocal rights?
If so, can you explain why?

Mohammed actually came here on the basis of skills got a visa and took out citizenship. Dariusz used free movement to kill, move on to another place and kill again.

It seems for example, British citizens living in France cannot vote in their elections unless they have dual nationality.
Robert Tombs was right, remainers are citizens of 'nowhere'.

Now you're just being silly. Not so. The Commonwealth hasn't had free movement in decades.
Migrants from it have to get visas.

Again, you're dodging the column.
We're discussing voting rights not immigration.
So back to the question: Full voting rights in the UK for all resident Commonwealth citizens, good or bad? And why should it be allowed when CW countries don't reciprocate?
A simple enough question, why do you keep ducking it?
