Well, Germany aren't making much these days. They haven't got much to fall back on either.
It seems their economy had all its eggs in one basket.

The manufacturing sector in the German economy is more than twice the size of the British as a proportion of national GVA.
Present German economic weakness is a result of stagnant domestic demand. For a number of reasons consumers aren't consuming as much, resulting in a sharp drop in imports. Which again is in stark contrast to the UK with its debt-fuelled consumer 'boom' sucking in more imports (including cars from German companies).
If you want to get a quick comparative snapshot of the structure of the two economies, check out the number of manufacturing companies in the DAX-40 - over half of all stocks are companies that actually make stuff. That's more than the entire FTSE-100 which has a mere handful (less than 10).

Thought that would get your goat.
But re tomatoes, I'm given to understand that the UK's preferred source is now that bastion of civilisation and human rights Morocco.
It was ten years ago. Nothing's changed. But last year a large part of the Moroccan tomato crop failed as did a large part of the Spanish crop. And the heating costs for British tomato greenhouses had gone up due to high energy prices resulting from the war.
Nothing to do with Brexit at all.

Didn't get my goat at all, I'm just laughing at the sheer ignorance of the Brexit means no tomatoes bollocks. And Moroccan tomatoes have been a fixture in British supermarkets for decades. The EU did a trade agreement with them in 2000. eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/ALL/?uri=CELEX:22000A0318(01)Since that time more and more Moroccan tomatoes have been sold here.

If the UK doesn't have a 'free trade deal' with the EU, nobody does. I've already rebutted your lies.

That's more than the entire FTSE-100 which has a mere handful (less than 10). Two problems for the German car market are high energy costs and the switch to green cars. German cars are the kind that use a lot to steel and Germany has high labour costs compared to Eastern Europe. At one time it has 27% of the Chinese car market, but now they switch to EVs Germany can't really get many sold over there. They had a lot of IP for ICE cars that is out of date with EVs. IP is a form of protectionism. The EV cars are a lot less protected because it is new technology.

'The EV cars are a lot less protected because it is new technology.'EV's were a big thing back in the late 1800's - new technology is the last thing they are..

Omnisis are a polling company who have been around for years.. wethink.report/I thought that graph you posted was a bit Dodgeie .I was right about how you Right wingers like to Deceive I clicked on that link. You posted. Since the beginning of the year our Brexit sentiment tracker has hovered around the 60-40 mark of voters who think the UK should re-join the European Union. “We’re seeing the same kind of split on the question of whether Britain was right or wrong to leave the EU.
