So they weren't refugees then. they were fleeing war - what more do they need to do to become a refugee? Of course there is one main difference between Ukrainian refugees and those crossing the channel in rubber boats. The Ukrainians were pretty much all women and children whereas those arriving by rubber boat are pretty much all young men of fighting age. Just give all the refugees arriving in France, British visas. After all as he says they're the same as Ukrainian refugees. (Apart from being the wrong colour) Yes - I am totally up for that. Allow anyone to apply at any UK embassy overseas and then wait in those countries until their case has been assessed - just like the Ukrainians. I get the feeling though that would not suit you. |

The refugee scheme is not to help economic migrants it is to help people who are fleeing war and danger and as it was signed in 1951 that was the time when the bulk of refugees were in Europe and from Europe and in which the UK had taken in many thousands. Many refugees were dispossessed peoples and were Jews in European camps immediately post war, most of whom just wanted to travel to the ME specifically to what would become Israel. Strangely enough the Arabs did not want them and most went illegally. We see how that worked out for the ME. So it was not a 'clever idea' it was dealing with realities at the time. |

And Poland is not a fucking safe place they are on the slav border. This scum who come here illegally are not fleeing for their lives.
