Zany has put forward earlier elsewhere his ideas about curbing immigration by through 'help and money and reward and education and even resettlement'. They weren't persuasive then and I doubt they'd be any more persuasive now, so his reluctance to air them once again is completely understandable. If anybody had listened years back and stopped all immigration while the mess was sorted out, his ideas might well have changed things, but they didn't now it is a major crisis, which is something else politicians will still argue over. While never actually taking any blame.

As I said, closed minds are not open to debate, let alone discussion of new concepts. I still think enabling people to have less children is preferable to the only alternative I have seen which appears to be some sort of Cull. Cutting birth rates was achieved very successfully in Bangadesh. Bangladesh is frequently acknowledged as a role model by Western nations for effectively reducing fertility rates, particularly in contrast to the high population growth rates in Africa. In 2019, German Development Minister Gerd Müller publicly commended Bangladesh, noting the Muslim-majority country's significant progress in reducing its fertility rate over the preceding five decades. "Bangladesh has brought down the fertility rate from about seven births per woman to 2.1 births per woman, which is almost the European average, over the past 50 years," he said. www.tbsnews.net/features/panorama/forecast-bangladeshs-ageing-population-and-new-births-745910

Actually it is nowhere close to the European average of 1.5.
But still, it is moving in the right direction, at least in Bangladesh. The birthrate among Bangladeshis in the UK however is still well above replacement level, along with that of Pakistanis.
The question is what is conducive to living in the UK that makes it more attractive for Bangladeshis to have larger families than at home in Bangladesh? Affordability? Better public welfare? Or what?

But the child mortality rate is also higher in Bangladesh. See it can be done. My idea is not to bring them to the UK to teach them family planning, educate them and cut the cycle of birth and infant death.

Your plan to stop immigration is to bring immigrants into the UK?

There is a point to peaceful protest, whether that be how you vote or don't vote, or whether you arrive on the streets, it means you are pointing out to politicians that there really is a problem and the before it gets out of hand as they have the power, they need to change something, not carry on as before, so although they want to pick and choose policy for their own ends it doesn't work that way, although they pretend it does, trying to shut down peaceful protest by any means possible has always backfired on them.

I think Orac grasped the wrong end of the stick here, but perhaps what you meant to write was "My idea is not to bring them to the UK but to teach them family planning, educate them back home in Bangladesh and cut the cycle of birth and infant death. "
Btw I have started a discussion on the 'plan' in the Mind Zone, are you going to be putting in an appearance?

I wonder if the people of Bangladesh would welcome Europeans telling them how to live their lives in order to stop them migrating to Europe .

I don't believe it would be welcome, based on earlier reactions on the part of third-world governments taking umbrage at what was denounced as racist interference in their internal politics.

Yes to repeat the Bangladesh experiment across the third word. Ok I'll have a look.
