so why waste billions more supporting the EU? It would have cost less to remain. No, it wouldn't. We were paying £9.5 billion a year post rebate. That's £12.3 billion a year now. We've already saved £49.2 billion and gained an additional £47,689,378,592 that we wouldn't have gained if we'd stayed in, with an overvalued pound and the declining sales to the EU we had before the referendum.
Do the maths.
We exported £223.3 billion to the EU before the referendum. We exported £340 billion to the EU last year, which adjusted for inflation is £47.6 billion MORE than we'd have sold to it otherwise.

We would have paid a 'share' of £56b not all of it, do keep up. Whar part of we are NOT paying them £56 billion is it that eludes you? What part of "we would not be paying £56b anyway" eludes you.

In July 2022, HM Treasury's estimate of the financial settlement when the UK left the EU on 31 January 2020 is £35.6 billion (€42.4 billion), an increase of £2.7 million since the OBR estimate in 2020.[3] The Reste à Liquider had increased from the original 2018 estimate of €20.2 billion to €23.8 billion and other financial liabilities had increased from €2.7 billion to €7.5 billion, a total increase of €8.4 billion since 2018.[3] en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brexit_divorce_bill

You just actually claimed that we don't pay a bean? Not a bean of the £56 billion. But the EUSSR shag us over on paying the French to stop these illegals being thrust upon us and they do just the opposite.

Which is a total waste of money like everything the EUSSR uses tax payers money for.....And I see you neglected to pick up on your beloved EUSSR are attempting to stifle free speech of their member states.

The deal didn't contain an exact figure, but the UK will have paid the majority of it by 2023/24 , and the UK will be paying small increments until 2064. The UK got exisitng trade deals rolled over which make the impact of the divorce settlement insignificant somewhat; where it can now amend and tailor those deals with it trading partners. The OBR (who you quote), believe the UK's divorce settlement is significantly lower than had it remained as a net contributor.

And we are paying France not the EUSSR commision FFS. And I will ask you yet again, how do you feel about the EUSSR atempting to stifle free speech of their member states? You were the one who brought freespeech into the thread so it is not an atempt at evasion on my part.
