it wasnt a once in a lifetime vote jonsky. Your own parliament governs the uk under the rule that no past parliament can bind a current parliament. At any election , the new government can undo what the previous government did mate.
Starmer if he wins can take the uk back into the eu in part or fully , whatever he likes under parliament rules. He wont even need another referendum to do it. If he thinks he will win hands down he might though offer another referendum , but knowing starmer and how cowardly he and his party are , i doubt it.
You will have absolutely no legal redress if/when Starmer implements Brino. As Thomas has pointed out, the cornerstone of the constitution is that no Parliament can be limited by the actions of a previous Parliament. A Labour government will have a free hand to do as it pleases.

Total crap it was a once in a lifetime. Enjoy your own misery. You have earnt it with interest. ok jonsky , not gonnae argue about it. You can make things up whatever you like , but dont say i didnt warn you . Democracy as we know by its very nature is a never endum , constantly testing and retesting public opinion. You cant shackle democracy , and try and anti democratically stop future votes beacuse you cant handle folk might not share your view.
im happy jonsky. The people that are having meltdowns at the minute seem to be right wingers , tories ,brit nats , brexiters and the like.
Dont get mad jonsky , get out and vote against starmer at the next election as i will be doing.

I cant believe people are even trying to punt this nonsense about once in a lifetime.
The next uk government , which is looking increasingly like labour can do as they please.

Yeah, they just don't get it. Even if Cameron and every single member of Parliament had introduced a law saying there would no referendum for a generation, it would still have absolutely no effect if a new Parliament decided it wanted to have a referendum on the issue straight away. That would be the case even if Cameron and every member of Parliament had signed that law with their own blood.

I have made nothing up. We all knew the score when we voted. But of course not by the remain brigade it seems. Cameron spent enough taxpayers money on trying to further his agenda. And then the remain brigade moaned like spoilt kids over a miniscule over spend by the leave supporters.

If the precedent is that we have regular referendums on our membership for the sake of fairness, I can't see any consistent argument for discontinuing that tradition if were (for instance) to re-join

Are you retracting your claim that we were told this was a once only vote? For someone who considers themself a smart Alec, why would you even need to ask? When I have spelled it out for you in black and white? I'm pleased you consider me a smart Alec. personally I don't, I just enjoy learning. However I am puzzled as to what you have spelt out. You claimed we were told this was a once only vote. I asked you who told us this. You answered: It was nothing to do with how the government wished how they could control the electorate via so called Parliamentary democracy, but how the majority of voters wanted them acting on their behalf for once. Which Farage made a huge mistake telling people they would. Which has created your view that somehow you can change that. Where you can centralise power in Brussels and all will be well.I can't see anywhere in this sentence the names of the people who said this was a once only vote. Or even any reference to my query.

That's why 3 people are having to explain to you the impossibility of making it a once only vote.

Well it will all work out fine then, there will be no repercussions obviously as Parliament can do as they please.

Show me where its legally binding under english or scottish law that a new incoming uk government cannot take the uk back into the EU with or without a uk referendum ? If you cant , then you have made the once in a lifetime mantra up .
over to you jonsky.?

Yeah, they just don't get it. Even if Cameron and every single member of Parliament had introduced a law saying there would no referendum for a generation, it would still have absolutely no effect if a new Parliament decided it wanted to have a referendum on the issue straight away. That would be the case even if Cameron and every member of Parliament had signed that law with their own blood. quite obviously there is nothing stopping a new uk government undoing a previous referendum. So jonsky trying to imply there is some sort of timescale on another brexit vote is of course a nonsense.
The question more pertinent is it politically expedient for the new uk government to do so? Im not sure. Labour as we know dont like democracy , and only allow referendums when they are sure of the result or can rig the vote.
My view is as i repeatedly said. This will be done in secret behind closed doors without the public having a say....the new labour way.
The idea the virulent pro european starmer is now suddenly a brexiter who is going to make brexit work for the uk is laughable.
