Sandy Pine makes a very good point. If black people are, as you say, the same as everyone else, why do lefties kneel for BLM? Why do we have diversity quotas? Why are white people discriminated against? Are you sure we're all the same? I don't know anything about BLM. I imagine they kneel because black men were being disproportionately killed by the US police. Floyd's death was caught on camera. The statistics are out there. You belong to a minority group, Red. Stand up against this sort of thing or they might come for the Gammons next. Actually I belong to the majority group in this country, although I accept we are treated as a minority. |

The last time we talked, you tried to sell the idea that the Empire introduced democracy into India, despite the fact that the Empire did everything it could to keep democracy out of India. I don't think 'gammon' was an ethnicity for the most recent census so unless there was an unprecedented wave of write-ins documented by the ONS I'm wondering how Heino can be so certain as to their numbers amongst the general population.
Might it be that he is attempting to ascribe a range of opinions on controversial topics that are shared by most members of the majority population to an imagined minority of his own construction?
Didn't the Stalinists (and Nazis) resort to similar tactics when seeking to marginalise population groups who declined to tow the party line?

They do not have to however there are many who are tied into the valuing diversity mindset as officially promoted. I was wondering how that could be reconciled with your belief there is no difference? Still if you wish not to address the point fair enough, just throwing a thought into the mix. There's no difference. A working class black man has more in common with a working class white man than either has with someone from an upper-middle class background. Stop being ridiculous. I am not promoting the valuing of diversity which states clearly that different people bring different mindsets by way of culture etc to the table. Officially it is not just recognised that people are different it promotes that difference as a positive attribute and those differences include ethnicity and class. |

I am not aware that I said the Empire introduced democracy into India, it may have laid the necessary foundation by way of education, infrastructure and public services. You can't ascribe democracy to the Empire when the Empire did everything it could to withhold democracy. India wasn't meant to have it. Democracy wasn't a gift to the Indian people any more than the 100s of thousands of tonnes of machinery and arms abandoned by British troops at Dunkirk was a gift to the German army. The Germans and Indians just got them. There was no benefactor. |

As a matter of fact, democracy was introduced in India (for the first time) with municipal elections in the 1870s. But only in the areas under direct British control, it didn't happen in the quasi-independent 'princely states' until many years later.
