Just saw an advert that amused me.
It was one of those typical family at home adverts pimping a product.
This time the woman was indian, the man was middle eastern, but with a very english looking decor, very english behaviours and with two very English looking kids.
It kinda took me out of the moment and removed any attention from the product being sold and it did make me wonder. Was this a conscious effort to add another dynamic to the covering of bases. reflecting not just diversity but integration too.

Turns out he is a man. The Guardian puts it in quotes so they do appear to be his exact words, or are at least reported to be. The mystery is not solved as deracinated seems to imply that the uprooting was not voluntary and that the 'look test' determines culture. |

That's exactly what was quoted in other publications too. Have they taken a poll asking black people how they feel about it? If not, how does he know? I'm sure most black people stopped seeing black people and just saw people as soon as the rest of us did. |
