And some not my king protestors arrested in London this morning.
Whether you agree or not they have the right to stand on the sidelines unlike just stop oil who block the highway and get away with it.

Did not the same thing happen with Chinese protestors about 20 years ago when the Chinese leader arrived. I suppose the only argument I can see is if one holds up banners and placards then it is blocking the view of those behind. Pretty feeble I know.

I’m not trying to be rude here but what or why did you think the Uk has freedom of speech?
We’ve never had it.
Edit: I agree we should btw, but without it, the govt is free to move the ‘line’ of what and when it’s acceptable to say things as it sees fit.

Did not the same thing happen with Chinese protestors about 20 years ago when the Chinese leader arrived. I was there. The police also never lifted a finger to prevent Chinese security personnel from photographing (very conspicuously) faces of protestors. My friend, on the day, chatted up one copper, who allowed her to hold up her banner in pole position as the motorcade swept into Downing Street..

Sure, it sounds feeble, but there are several sources of attack thesedays.

Perhaps,if only the same had applied to the stop oil protestors.

Would not the police have had to protect them from the 'crowd'. Are we not a free people?

We all know the law is not equally applied. Is anyone surprised?

I agree with the opening post - and as that famous quote goes "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death, your right to say it".
As stated in a different post, I am a true and loyal supporter of the British Crown, but I am also a supporter of British values, as set out in such things as The Bill Of Rights and The Magna Carta, as ancient as the coronation ceremony we saw today.
People have a right to peaceful protest - even Republicans

People have a right to peaceful protest - even Republicans They do indeed, that however becomes difficult if others attack the protestors. There is also the issue of 'disruptive' and where peaceful spills over into disruptive and where the line is drawn between disruptive and antagonistic and who gets to decide. The Colston statue was effectively a protest that became disruptive and then criminally damaging as the police watched. If rioters ransacked one's house whilst the police watched and then were cleared in court it would be a pretty rum do.

Yes sandypine, but there appears to be no evidence that these republicans were disruptive or were intent on causing a nuisance, or spoiling other peoples enjoyment, otherwise I would agree with you.

You never answered my earlier post sid. So what do you think ? Will labour be propped up to rule over england by the SNP at the next election ?
