A mistake by ONE MP refering to a "white van man" displaying St George's flags is not an indication that the Labour Party is anti-English, and it is absurd to suggest that it is. At the time, Thornberry was heavily criticised by many Labour MPs including the then leader Ed Miliband, she resigned her post in the shadow cabinet over the issue. I stick totally with my original contention, that SOME people question the patriotic credentials of the Labour Party, and as proven by posters here who have stated that (quote) "Labour hates England", a statement so utterly ridiculous, that only a person of dim intelligence would make. well i think events are overtaking your latest puerile excuses for labours anti englishness sid.
That well known race baiter diane abbot has made fools out of labour yet again with the latest bout of anti semitic comments coming from a prominent labour politician.
To deny the likes of thornberry (and many other in labour) hate the english flag with her comments about anyone who flys the english flag is marked as an "A"........against labour. The implication of anti englishness is clear.
lmfao. Labour as we all know had a clear anti patriotic image problem withthe voters , especially in england .to claim only some think labour are not patriotic is fucking laughable.
Leak reveals Labour plan to focus on flag and patriotism to win back voters
Exclusive: leaked internal strategy presentation reveals plan to ‘change the party’s body language’
as the article mkaes clear , this is all part of starmers nice but dim attempts to portray labour as patriotic to win back red wall seats where they are seen as anti english/british who want to sell england out to the EU.

Your posts are becoming more and more ridiculous thomas
Firstly, lets take THIS line from your last post "lmfao. Labour as we all know had a clear anti patriotic image problem withthe voters"
I would agree with that statement, but let us note the word "had"
Had, as in under the previous leader Jeremy Corbyn, of whom Diane Abbott is a well known disciple
You are actually basing your view that "Labour hates England" upon a tweet from one solitary Labour MP which was posted nine years ago.
I do not see how you can relate Abbotts views on race, which in this instance includes Jews, Roma and Gypsy people is linked to your suggestion that Labour hates England.
The Labour leader has, quite rightly, acted very swiftly and suspended Abbott from the party, just as he did Corbyn.
"as the article makes clear , this is all part of starmers nice but dim attempts to portray labour as patriotic to win back red wall seats where they are seen as anti english/british who want to sell england out to the EU."
What Starmer has done, and continues to do very successfuly is to take back the Labour Party from the Corbynites, the entryists, the far left, the anti-semites, Marxists and anti capitalists, and to make Labour a MODERATE, left of centre political party which champions Social Justice.
To this end, Starmer is doing a good job, with many people and voters coming back to Labour, and with the party now way ahead of the Tories in the polls for over a year now.
The days of Abbott and Corbyn and their supporters running Labour are well and truly over

I'm no fan of Starmer but he will be our next PM unless the Tories drastically turn things around.
After all, the Tories are viewed as being the party who partied whilst the rest of us couldn't.

The days of Abbott and Corbyn and their supporters running Labour are well and truly over you seem upset sid , and if i dare say incoherent.
Both internally and externally in recent years labour party leaders and aparatchiks , as well as us mere plebs outside the party , all recognised labour has a problem with patriotism. Both scottish and english .
Thats undeniable as my links all show. This isnt about one single mp you keep bleating about , its widespread like anti semitism and across the board so much so starmer has instructed the party boffins to act uopn it. Hence saddo and others sporting their england tops , and wishing the english a happy a st georges day however little they mean it.
its not fuckiing difficult sid. Abbot is well known for shouting racism at english folk waving england flags , and palying the race card against the english at every turn. Are you trying to tell me you cant see the link between what im clearly demonstrating and abbot thornberry and previously the likes of gordon brown and his bigoted woman comments and labours historic distaste for english nationlaism and their hatred of the england flag?
however disastefull wurzel and abbot are, lets remind ourselves it was new labour who flooded england with migration and left england with insurmountable problems . It was new labour who attempted to stop the uk haveing a vote n brexit , and it was keir starmer and the new labour pro europeans who tried to stitch the english up for voting brexit.
Now you are trying desperately to throw all labour problems at a guy who lead labour for five of the last 33 new labour years?
labour mps like cruddas sum things up....
MP John Cruddas, in his own essay in the book, says Labour has “marched decisively away from the views of voters on issues that are fundamental to our electoral prospects: immigration, personal financial interest, welfare, public services, and business.”
Jamie Reed, a former Labour Shadow Health Minister, writes: “A cultural divide has been allowed to open up between the party and far too many of those people for whom it exists to serve.”
And Suzy Stride, who was Labour’s candidate in Harlow in the 2015 general election - but lost to the Tory candidate - tells the story of one voter who opened the door and said: “I’m a white working class, heterosexual Englishman who isn’t on benefits, Labour aren’t for people like me.”

According to the polls as they stand you are right about starmer . The question is after todays little debacle , can starmer hold his soft lead for 18 months?
Im not so sure.

It may have missed your attention, but there are many differing views in every political party
There are Libertarian Lib Dems, and there are Social Liberals amongst the Lib Dems, there are Populists within the Tory Party who would rather use culture wars as opposed to meaningful politics, and there are traditional Conservatives including One Nation Tories. Within the Labour Party, the majority of the orthodox hard line Socialists have gone.
My Parliamentary Labour Candidate has been touring housing estates today, and on her Facebook page she has highlighted some of the things that local people are concerned with, number 1 seems to be homes and housing. My Tory MP is never seen from one election to another, though he did comment last week that keeping hospital parking charges for doctors and nurses was "the right thing to do".
I can quote many instances of Tory MPs criticising other Tory MPs, and I can give many examples of Tory MPs who are so far apart on their views, that they could easily be in different political parties.
Despite what you post, all the evidence suggests that a general election tomorrow would result in a Labour majority of around 260 seats ( Electoral Calculous ) including most Red Wall seats, including Boris Johnsons seat.

Or will you be using (for the umpteenth time) proceeds from a windfall tax or VAT on school fees?

Pacifico You can state whatever you want, but you will never convince the majority of people in this country that charging doctors and nurses to park their cars in hospital staff car parks is the right thing to do.
But as long as people such as yourself, and Tory candidates keep on defending such a policy, I am happy in the knowledge that it will do the Labour Party no harm at all.

I'm not defending anything Sid - just asking if this is going to be a manifesto commitment. If so how are you intending to pay for it?

. It was during one of his drunken rampages on the island of ireland that he was alleged to have murdered all the snakes by breathing on them his halitosis was that bad.
It's a well-known fact that Ireland's snake population was eradicated after St. Patrick asked all those who wished to remain to raise their right hand.

It was the labour party that brought in hospital car park charging in a few of scotlands hospitals before we kicked you out. This was done under your hated pfi deals .
To sit and try and make political capital out of car parking in hospitals against the toires is typical of the slimy politics you engage in , when you in labour are a large part of the problem.
You know sid , people like you concern me. Nothing matters to you but the party , and the party machinary. You threw corbyn under a bus , now abbot rightly or wrongly , and any labour politician is collateral damage to you as long as the party goes on to glory and wins.
Your slack jawed vacant eyed lack of thought in most of your posts is typical of the labour parties soviet style politburo politics.
Across Scotland, councils and taxpayers are still forced to pay the cost of a Labour government – even 16 years after they got kicked out of office.
Scottish Labour’s PFI disaster resulted in a £30 billion bill for Scottish taxpayer
Fully embraced by Labour on the UK and on the Scottish level, the wasteful PFI deals have footed a £30 billion repayments bill on Scottish taxpayers – forcing us all to pay many times more the original cost of the projects. All of this is money that could be diverted to our public services or to tackling the Tory cost of living crisis.
The SNP is doing all it can to reverse the damage – for example, we’ve scrapping hospital car parking charges which were in place because of PFI deals – but Labour’s long legacy of financial mismanagement means that councils and taxpayers have to keep footing the PFI bills for years to come.
Hospital parking charges in Scotland are being abolished for good.
🚗 Car parks in Dundee and Glasgow have been taken into public hands, with talks at an advanced stage at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
🏴 The SNP are ending the legacy of PFI in hospital car parks in Scotland.

Dont jump the gun though. With 18 months to go , a week as they say is a long time in politics. Yesterdays storm in london with abbot is an exmaple of how quickly things can turn for starmer.
Labour as yet still havent made any advancement in scotland since the truss debacle last september , when you took the british vote off the tories.
Im not convicned just yet the red wall in england is going to fall back into europhile starmers hands .So lets see sid. Whats matters is election day.

It's never meant anything to me (and nor have any other national saint's days, but if St George's Day is what makes you happy, fill your boots. In our town, as every year, the local Labour Party will be a part of the events (there's a parade, etc). The only thing it ever meant to me was an opportunity for our Scout and later Venture Scout unit to exercise its right to march through the City. God knows why, but in those days the unit was among the groups - the others mostly military - granted ‘the freedom of the city’. I took part because it was fun, and mote so because it absolutely infuriated the cottage burners to have military and paramilitary units other than Meibion Glyndwr marching through the streets of a city the English proclaimed to be the Capital of Wales. Our masters at Scout HQ chose to exercise this right on the day there was an official St George’s Day Parade because the council being a load of Marxist Loving Commie Pinkos were equally enraged that military and paramilitary units were allowed to march through Cardiff without waving the hammer and sickle… Unsurprisingly the Labour Council ensured both things were taken away. I doubt anyone even marches for Armistice Day any more. It was notable none of the council scum made an appearance at any of the Armed Forces Day events when Cardiff had the title role, and in fact none made much of it at any other year.

Yes, but the problem the Labour party still have is that they are stuck with those who use identity politics to win certain votes - rather than 'meaningful politics'.
