Then why did Liz Truss have to do such somersaults to stop the vote going ahead? I already answered that - to ensure that Labour didn't take control of the business agenda for the House. But why did she need to if only the elected government can set the agenda? Are you admitting that elected MP's from any party can set the agenda unless prevented?

Are you admitting that elected MP's from any party can set the agenda unless prevented? Of course - the custom was that the Government Party set the agenda for Parliament. This custom was thrown out the window during the Brexit shenanigans and needs to be reimposed for the smooth operation of government.

The custom is that the Governing Party decides what business is brought before the House. Opposition MP's get the chance to introduce Legislation through the MP's Private Members Bills, but it has never been the case that the official opposition are allowed to introduce Legislation.

Opposition MP's get the chance to introduce Legislation through the MP's Private Members Bills, but it has never been the case that the official opposition are allowed to introduce Legislation. That is why I asked what he meant by agenda. Introducing a bill to parliament is tough if you are anyone other than a minister since it would need to be allocated a slot by the PBL committee, which is chaired by the Leader of the House of Commons, and the Government can always oppose it if the PBL committee doesn't nip it in the bud for them automatically. It is easy for any MP to move a motion but using that mechanism in an attempt to force a draft bill before parliament or force a debate the government doesn't want to have is going to get shut down pretty damn quickly via a division as a point of principle.

I hadn't heard about Sunak pulling out of Cop-27 or downgrading the status of the climate minister, great news. And the fact that Labour are whinging about it makes it even better.

Cold winters kill a damned sight more people than hot summers, but let's not get bogged down with facts.

I wont bother to try and educate you on the rest.

They offer not only a solution to AGW but energy security (Not relying on Putin for Gas or the bloody Arabs As for what the public want, you are the one out of step piltdown man.

ZG, in April Boris was considering scrapping the green levy, which as you know subsidises renewables because they're expensive, and in turn increase peoples fuel bills. Sunak (As chancellor) said he understood the strength of feeling in the party and that scrapping the levy was an “attractive option.” We'll see.
