In Islington he would probably get elected as an independent candidate if he wanted.

Starmer is nothing more than a Tory in sheep's clothing.

For someone who was recently the leader of the party to attack the party he placed himself as a leading antagonist within the party. __"Corbyn was suspended from the Labour whip by Starmer in 2020, after saying the scale of antisemitism cases in the party had been “dramatically overstated for political reasons.”__

If the rules say someone can be stopped from standing as a Labour candidate then what's undemocratic about it? The way Boris, an elected prime minister was removed is more undemocratic. Besides, in that constituency I would have thought Corbyn had a fair chance of winning as an independent.

Starmer is nothing more than a Tory in sheep's clothing. Nonsense, It is just the case that Starmer isn't just a blind hard-left lets do our best to continue polishing the opposition benches where we can do nothing for working people in this country. That's the conclusion staring people in the face when they look at the history of Old Labour in terms of time spent in office. In the period between 1951 and 2010: Conservatives in office for 35years. Old Labour in office for 11. New Labour in office for 13 years. In 2019, Labour won 202 seats, their lowest number since 1935.

It would be so much better if the Corbynists had their own party but as long as the electoral system is what it is it is a futile hope.

Is this right in a democracy? whats undemocratic about it? - it is entirely up to the Labour Party who they choose to have for their candidates.

Yes. The headline of this thread is exceptionally misleading Reading your headline it seems you claim Starmer seeks to make Corbyn a proscribed person such as Bobby Sands, banned from handing in a nomination paper. Nothing could be further from the truth All Starmer wishes to do is deny him the authentication of the party’s National Nominating Officer as an Official Labour (And Cooperative, IIRC, to give them the full title) candidate. Nothing prevents Corbyn from standing If the modern day marxist tendency swivel eyed lefty loons who launched JC 4 PM snd put the labour manifesto THERE long before it turned up on the labour party website, have so much confidence in Corbyn, have him stand like Lord Buckethead, or Howlin’ Laud Hope, against Starmer in his constituency. Let us see his popularity cause Starmer to lose his seat and try and be leader of the party from tbe pavement outside SW1A …. It wouldn’t be the first time proletariat approval ran over labour intransigence. I’ve posted before on how i stood and clapped and cheered until my hands bled snd my voice gave out when Blair lost the second safest seat in wales to block headed fucking stupidity over all women shortlists. But that was because the man thrown in the gutter was a friend of a mate of mine. Blair’s attack on him was personal and i rejoiced at Blair getting a stuffing. But i say here and now, if Corbyn wants people to chip in for the £500 it will take to stand against starmer, i’m good for five quid send me the crowdfund page link
