As things now stand, it looks as though matters may be resolved to Gary Linekars satisfaction ( and the satisfaction of all who oppose the Tories grip on the BBC ). But further more, there is as a result of this fiasco, an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the appointment of Richard Sharp. Ah so you believe Sharp needs looking at but not dear old Gary? FWIW I think Sharp should be sacked and Lineker too now,if he is reinstated all it is saying is that if you're rich enough rules don't affect or apply to you,not that there's anything new with that.
As a football pundit Lineker is knowledgable, the perception that all football supporters are thick is false and if you looked at some forums you'd see that, there's a large proportion would prefer no commentary acroos all the channels not just the beeb, they find it irritating.

Gary Linekar WAS NOT appointed to Match Of The Day because of politics, he was appointed because he is an ex football star who is famous as a footballer, and because he s good at the job he does.
Some of the Top Dogs at the BBC WERE appointed because of cronyism, political influence and money
I am pleased to see that not only has Linekar been given his job back, but he s also made another defiant speech about refugees - I bet Boris is fuming.
Linekar wins - Tory BBC bosses have their noses rubbed in it

Because it's clear that anyone with any intelligence already knows the answer.

Except that Gary Lineker did not break any guidelines. That's why he has been reinstated. Unfortunately this is what happens when MP's try to put pressure on an independent authority.

They are funded by the public, and for that reason answerable to the public, any doctor who dare to tweet or speak out negatively about the Covid vaccine was fired, because of the connection to the vaccine. Just like when Jug ears speaks out against the government policies his connection with the BBC is just the same.

No need to shout we got the gist even though you're wrong, though you were right he was appointed as a football not political pundit who broke guidelines.
And if proven should be sacked
Because he has lots of money and is famous, those having their noses rubbed in it are ordinary people who if they speak out often lose their livelihood and nobody gives a stuff about them.

Yes he did and but for the furore and his mates he'd be sacked.

No, because he's popular and a huge asset to the BBC. Same reason Clarkson got away with saying much worse.

No, because he's popular and a huge asset to the BBC. Same reason Clarkson got away with saying much worse. On average MOTD pulls in about 2 million viewers..
The licence fee accounted for 71% of BBC funding in 2021/22 Total BBC income in 2021/22 was £5.33 billion, 71% of which came from the licence fee revenues. The remaining 29% or £1.53 billion came from commercial and other activities (such as grants, royalties and rental income).
so out of 71% of licence fee payers 2 million viewers does not make him 'popular', it's a fraction of the licence fee payers who watch his crap, so the BBC are catering for the FEW and not the many.

No, because he's popular and a huge asset to the BBC. Same reason Clarkson got away with saying much worse. No he's not,go read some football forums, many prefer no pundits no commentary.
Both him and Clarkson should've been warned and sacked for repeating same.
Being popular does not make you infallible, the pope is supposed to be many famous people think they're above rules that apply to others.
As I've posted before despite charters and other supposed safeguards many whistleblowers still lose their livelihood and can ill afford to unlike Lineker,Clarkson the DG of the Beeb and others.
What you're saying is the elite can do as they wish.
