Danny Baker, Sam Mason. There are multiple others. Btw - Gary wasn't sacked for 'political opinions', he was sacked for a politically embarrassing communication. Danny Baker was not sacked for a political opinion. Neither was Gary. They were all sacked for the 'political unacceptability' of their communications - ie politically embarrassing the BBC

I think that Andrew Marr and Emily Maitlis left the BBC because they felt that the impartiality rules they were bound by when contracted to the national broadcaster stopped them from expressing their opinions. They both now work in the private sector and can say what they choose, we don't have to pay their wages nor listen to what they have to say, goos result. According to snp mp and former bbc employee john nicolson , gary lineker isnt bound to any political impartiality rule like marr and maitlis becuase lineker is a sports presenter , not a politics presenter , and he is freelance.
Many freelance pundits connected to the bbc regualrly tweet political opinions which doesnt appear to be a problem for the bbc. Quite obviously this is all backfiring on the tory government , with the tory donors and former candidates at the helm of the bbc being leaned on by government to shut linker up.
an absolute disgrace , and hopefully the public use thier votes wisely at the next general election and remember incidents like this and the tory party trying to shut down freedom of speech.

The BBC do not employ him He is a freelance contractor The BBC are free to terminate his contract to supply his services aa a pundit at any time. He has no employment rights. That was his choice. If the BBC feel his behaviour in any way brings their spending of taxpayers money on him into disrepute (and i use the term taxpayers money advisedly, for as gordon brown became incandescent about, the EU decided to categorise the licence fee as a tax) then they must act to sever the relationship. John, HMRC say he is a BBC employee. Not sure that's 100% true.
HM Revenue and Customs claim Lineker was an employee of the BBC and BT Sport in his anchor roles between 2013 and 2018, rather than a freelancer. HMRC is now claiming £4.9 million should have been paid on income for that time.
Thus, it appears the BBC regarded and paid him as a freelance and, I guess we can assume, still does.
I don't think we know what HMRC thinks Lineker's status is currently...

Ask any of the 'outraged' leftie luvvies to put their money where their mouth is ... you fund the £6 million a DAY it's costing hard working ordinary UK tax payers.
If they agree then fair enough, it will silence the outraged tax payers.
But until then, either put up or STFU... take your choice.

Well maybe the political mouthpiece formally known as 'Gary Linkeker', used his privileged status and BBC platform to highlight who is to really blame for the plight of these illegal boat people then maybe people might support him, but he is blaming the UK government for a problem that clearly lies at the feet of Macron and the French government, who is cahoots with people traffickers.
If it was the other way round the UK government would have closed the England to France Dinghy shuttle service a long long time ago, Macron is made-up he can offload them all to the UK.

The BBC will want to,...... no will have to distance themselves from political mouthpieces who want to use their status to influence politics, the ordinary person on the street would believe the BBC is endorsing and supporting his preferred political preferences, in other words Jug ears Lineker is giving Dumbo Jug ears Starmer free political advantages.

The BBC chairman gave the Tory party £400k and Boris Johnson an £800k loan which puts any ''free'' political advantage into perspective.

Work it out, the UK are paying Macron to protect our UK borders from illegal migrants, if we don't pay up then he will make sure we are inundated with them.
If that's not running a protection racket, then I don't know what is.
