When I lived in Spain we had a digital ID, it is basically a digital certificate, a few lines of code which are loaded into a browser, or kept on a memory stick which logs the user into government or health websites without any doubt who the user is. The ID can be further password protected. I found it really useful when I lived there.

I think it is a way forward to prevent unauthorised logins to sensitive data.

Can it be abused? I suppose someone will always find a way.

I don't have a "device", nor do I intend to fund the purchase of one, nor spend the time trying to understand how to use it.

So fine by me. As most Government agencies such as HMRC, NHS, DWP don't work properly anyway any data contained on such a contraption would be out of date, relate to someone else or be illegible because it will have been hacked in a paddy field somewhere.

Their energies would be better used teaching teenagers the alphabet and how to cook properly.

I don’t doubt you did find it useful and maybe there is a use for it but I’m  uncomfortable with becoming a barcode a number.

Add to that the despicable Blair,whenever he proposes something I alway see an ulterior motive,and there is one.
