Long-time Tory Sir Rod Stewart phones in to Sky News to say party should stand down Rock star Sir Rod Stewart surprised journalists and viewers when he phoned in to Sky News to share his views on the NHS crisis - and call on the Government to stand down. Singer-songwriter Sir Rod, 78, was watching the Your Say segment on Thursday while building his model railway at home, when he made the unscheduled appearance after hearing people’s stories of trying to access healthcare. He said that despite being a long-time Conservative voter, he feels it is time for the party to stand down and “give the Labour Party a go”. www.msn.com/en-gb/news/newslondon/long-time-tory-sir-rod-stewart-phones-in-to-sky-news-to-say-party-should-stand-down/ar-AA16M2f8The Tories don't want to talk about it.

Very droll , no Government has ever addressed the problem's with the NHS over many years money alone will not solve its problems , which has been said over and over again for far too long

He is right to highlight the fact that the NHS is in crisis, but why on earth he thinks a Labour government would sort it out is something of a mystery to me, they never have before. Given Labours predisposition towards woke (Starmer doesn't know what a woman is) I would have thought the first thing a Labour government would do with the NHS is impose more diversity and inclusion, and spend £millions on unconscious bias training.

Don't start all that old bullshit that Labour would be worse. You have no idea what Labour would do. YOu must be bloody crazy to go on supporting the Tories. How bad do you want it to get before you face the truth?

Labour under Blairs slogan of 24 hours to save the NHS got them into power for 13 years, and the NHS did not get better or more efficient, nor is it now because it cannot handle the huge demand on it

How bad do you want it to get before you face the truth? Labour like the Tories have had many opportunities to sort the NHS out, but they never have. Other than your obvious hatred of the Tories, what makes you think a future Labour government would succeed where they have always failed in the past? Perhaps you're the eternal optimist, lol.

It's not a question of hating the Tories although surely even you must see that things have got worse and worse as time has gone on. They've tried everything they can think of. Look around you. It's a glorious fuck up start to finish. Brexit, immigration, the NHS, the economy all screwed to buggery yet according to you nothing to do with Tories. It was Corbyn, Starmer and all Labour's fault. Wake up man. How many more years are you and other Tory supporters going to take us to perdition?

See my thread 'Broken Britain', the chances are I'll vote for Richard Tice and his Reform party next time.

They are more interested in privatising it than preserving it.

I'm not interested in Rod Stewart's opinion on anything. Apparently he supported paying the nurses' demands for more cash which is bonkers. They're already pretty well paid and paying them even more money would just deprive the NHS of more cash or mean that the NHS would have to employ fewer nurses.

Surely on that basis paying them more money would be investing in the NHS not depriving it?

ROD you are our Hero .. Rod Stewart left the United Kingdom and made his home in Los Angeles in 1975 to avoid the 83% tax on top earners that existed in Britain at the time. Toto Wolff was accused of being a tax exile by Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner. Wolff, who is originally from Austria, now resides in Monaco. LOL people like Rod come back to use our NHS because you don't have to pay, yes Rod you are a true hypocritical double standard leftie, they will welcome you with open arms

Handyman ... "Very droll , no Government has ever addressed the problem's with the NHS over many years money alone will not solve its problems , which has been said over and over again for far too long" ------------------------------------
These kinds of excuses and answers dont wash anymore
The situation our NHS is in now, is chronic, severe, and regardless of what anyone says or states, it is now costing hundreds of lives. Our NHS has never been in the appaling state that it is now in, and it began deteriorating long before the Pandemic, but its all happened since 2010.
This is the second major news programme after Channel 4 News last week to shine a torch on the widespread failings of the government, its all extremely bad for the Conservatives, and they fully deserve it. They also fully deserve to be where they are now in the polls.
Exactly what the Tories want, and what they always secretly planned for, a two tier NHS, with private providors rubbing their hands, and Tory shareholders laughing. See the sudden explosion of private hospitals advertising on TV, taking full advantage, taking this golden opportunity.
The undercover Tory plan coming to fruition, except that in two years they will be gone.
