The police have been 'reformed'. Possibly — but as/into what...?
That was my point - society perhaps 'isn't ready' for any more of the sort of reforms you prefer. You need to give the public a breathing space so they can absorb the devastation and get properly de-sensitised to it.

Its the fucking biggest in theirs mate but they haven't got the balls to admit to the FACT..... Yet further deflection. Understandable when yet again their anti immigrant oft resurrected supremacist diatribe gets eroded by the antics of some native sons — especially those who are meant to keep law and order. They ignore the need for the police be reformed so that its officers can be justifiably be regarded as honest and reliable as they once were? It will be a difficult task — not any easier now schools are advising pupils not to automatically regard lone police officers as help in times of worry and/or distress… Far from deflection Did the truth hurt LOL

Oh for fucks sake . Trust you to post this and accuse others of deflection. ” We have let down those we’re here to protect – particularly London’s Black communities” Your blinkers stopped got in the way of you reading the remainder: women and girls and the LGBTQ+ community...
Nope. Your blinkers got in the way of reading the first part and realising your post was a lesson in deflection.

Nope. Your blinkers got in the way of reading the first part and realising your post was a lesson in deflection. On the contrary — my post was to illustrate the point that currently even the head of the Met is unable to guarantee that the police are a dependable and safe, particularly for those who have directly suffered from the actions of serving officers...

Ah yes, Rowley. Another politician.
So, apart from predictable platitudes, what is he actually going to do about it?

Indeed.
The Police used to have standards, which tended to weed out the wrong 'uns, but the wrong 'uns claimed that that was “Discrimination” and so the standards were lowered and the wrong 'uns were allowed to remain.
The Police used to have a canteen culture, which tended to weed out the wrong 'uns, but the wrong 'uns claimed that that was “Bullying” and so the canteen culture was quashed and the wrong 'uns were allowed to remain.
The Police used to have discipline, which tended to weed out the wrong 'uns, but the wrong 'uns claimed that that was “Overbearing” and so discipline was abolished and the wrong 'uns were allowed to remain.
And the senior officer cadre, including Rowley, who decried canteen culture and presided over the diminution of standards and discipline now have the temerity to complain that they have too many wrong uns.
Well, who'da thunk it?
As Albert said: “We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” He could have added: “Nor using the same people.”
So don't expect change anytime soon.

I suspect that Carrick was the alpha male who would actually tackle a physical threat while the overweight fat lesbian PCs stood back . I suspect that the other coppers were scared of him.

Dunno about scared of him, but if he was a bit "Handy" he was probably regarded as a good colleague - someone who'd have your back in a fight.
I doubt that his colleagues ever dreamed that he was a sex offender in private.

Well he obviously wasn’t a good colleague. Not all ‘ handy’ guys have your back either.

Well he obviously wasn’t a good colleague... Well everyone knows that now... Not all ‘ handy’ guys have your back either. And we all know that. But it's all about how people are perceived at the time. I know a female police officer who worked with Wayne Couzens and she always considered him a good bloke. But obviously, she doesn't now. And that's the thing - we consider our colleagues in terms of their professional competence, not their behaviour outside of work which is largely unknown to us. A good example is the late John McAleese. A much decorated SAS soldier involved in the Iranian embassy seige. A hero and excellent at his job. Yet at the time of his death, he was being investigated for child pornography. You just never know.

The police have been 'reformed'. Possibly — but as/into what...?
Fionnuala Kennedy, head of the £21,000 a year Wimbledon High School, said she is “breathless with anger” at the “failing of the Met police to protect girls and women”. She spoke out following the conviction of David Carrick who carried out a campaign of sex offences while a serving officer, the latest in a series of scandals involving Met officers.
She warned that teachers now have to balance encouraging girls to be confident, with giving them practical tips on staying safe, including the advice: “Don’t allow a lone policeman to approach you, at any time.”
Her comments came after Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley admitted he cannot promise women in London that police officers to whom they report crimes are not themselves sex offenders.
It's a valid point If a lone female driver is stopped by male police should she get out of the car to engage or should she ask the copper for his warrant card , dial 999 on her phone to check his credentials and have a call with her quite credible concerns logged and recorded before engaging?

OTOH, if a lone male police officer is approached by a female member of the public should they refuse to engage?
