It’s the 3rd world blame and compo hand out culture . It seems to have seeped into UK society.

That's a very jaundiced view. Agreed that although the UK has much further to go, it is, for instance, among the leaders in the production of renewable energy... Which is why the UK enjoys the most expensive electricity in the world. That's the result of 50 years of under investment in nuclear...

Quite possibly, but even under a left wing Biden administration US consumers pay half that of UK consumers for electricity because they exploit shale gas. This has nothing to do with historical UK energy policy incompetence. This is modern UK energy policy incompetence.

The usual wankers state we have to build build more houses in the UK to house our unwanted guests and now now the nut zero nob-ends are stating that all building and construction should stop untill we can develope carbon neutral concrete...Go figure..

People didn't want fracking in the UK, even when those in the locality were promised discounts...

Absolute rubbish. If fracking went to a referendum, I know for obvious reasons it never will, but if it did, it would be a landslide in favour because many people in this country are worried/very worried about the high cost of energy, and with this government it's only going to get more expensive. Are you aware that although we have trillions of cubic feet of shale gas in the ground in this county and could be self sufficient, incompetent politicians from this and previous governments decided to ban fracking for shale gas, but we need energy. So we import fracked shale gas from the US. Go figure, it's economics of the mad house in order to look virtuous.

But definitely wasn't always so:

The UK's natural gas reserves which took millions of years to form will have been sucked dry in just another 14 years, a mere 70 years after they were first exploited.
What then?

People did want fracking. The usual nut jobs tried everything in the book in their attempt at stopping it. Does eartheqakes ring any bells?

There are trillions of cubic feet of shale gas in the ground in the UK. Initially reports were very positive, but as the reach and influence of the climate change industry grew, positive reports slowly became... less positive. The BGS for instance (British Geological Survey) initially said there were huge reserves in various areas in the UK with even larger reserves offshore and predicted a minimum 50 years worth of gas with 'known' reserves. A few years later they were producing reports with drastically reduced estimates. The BGS rely on funding from various public and private sector organisations.

People did want fracking. The usual nut jobs tried everything in the book in their attempt at stopping it. Does eartheqakes ring any bells? Any examples of communities wanting fracking? All I remember were the reports of demonstrations and protests in different parts of the country when fracking was suggested, and the High Court backing them:
Key elements of the government’s policy on fracking have been declared unlawful by the High Court.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if "eartheqakes" rang bells...
