Since when has 'wrong' been the new word for lying?
Rachel Reeves admits she was 'wrong' to say taxes would not have to rise during election campaign after massive Budget raid... as poll finds four in 10 Brits believe package WILL hit their own pockets

Well it is always better to come clean than to keep on pretending you are some bloody angel, like we had with Johnson and his covid parties.
She probably didn't know the truth on the state of the economy. The Tories were hardly likely to admit they had fucked up, and she did not know what Uncle Sam demands. I understand a fair chunk is to do with rising military expenditure. We the taxpayer have been ordered to pay for the deaths of more Russians.

Well the funny thing was I knew taxes would rise. It was bloody obvious. Our GDP seemed to be flatlining at best, as in 0.1 real growth in 2023, and yet at the end of the Tory term tax cuts were all the rage. Obviously this was to buy votes, and so the next government would do the opposite. They whack up taxes at the beginning, everyone is highly pissed and then 5 years later they do the same as the Tories and the cycle repeats.
Also no one really knows if she knew or didn't and as we know, manifestos are only the sales brochure. You see at the end of any brochure the writing, our terms and conditions apply. If you ever click on their terms and conditions you are faced with 100 pages of legal clauses you agree to.

They chose the latter, they were never ever going to admit they lied, which they did.
