If you post something as fact with only YouTube and your mates opinion to back it up , it’s only your fault if it’s not believed. Yes but you can go on forever like a Westminster politician at the dispatch box. I'm just pointing out the content of the debate when it turns to personal accusations of honesty and believability is effectively the lowest common denominator, which at school was the kids playing at the back of the class whilst the intellectuals are sitting at the front doing the calculus. The issue becomes a case of, are we going to move forwards in technology by following the back of the class or the front. The front of the class will be thinking of things like creating a 3-flight computer redundant control systems to ensure safety and this kind of thing. The back of the class will be yelling, "ITS TOO BLOODY DANGEROUS", which it would be, if we followed their methodology. You see for the country these things can be self-fulfilling prophecies.
By the way, the other day in China I was listening to a CPC professor and his point about it was 'we learn best by doing'. It is very true that you know. The guy in the OP knows it. He has the right idea, so why so much angst?
And you can go on forever posting about your opinions and subjects not about the subject of the thread while posting “ There is too much talk about me and not about the subject of the thread“

I was trying to pull the conversation back to flying cars on several occasions, but your knowledge on the subject is lacking. This is the reason people end up in the same argument no matter what the original topic was about. It's all they know how to do. These threads I create are designed to help those with limited understanding of the world to learn some stuff, but even that they do not want to do. That's why they are at the back of the class. I dread to think how primitive the UK will become because this is widespread. I'm not trying to attack you. I just think you conform to a bad set of practices. There are two things Blighty needs to get good at. One of the business side of things and the other is the technical side. Lets see some Brtiish EVtols on the market. We might as well dump ICE cars. They have no future. Let move on. (onwards and upwards).

It missed th boat with EVs, and now the engineers are working on the next thing. Hang about too long and other countries will get all the patents.

Oh do come off it - there are loads of companies around the globe that are already designing and building the things (they are not hard) including Boeing and Airbus. But you still come back to the basic issue that you have to comply with aviation regulations. The market for rich mens toys is not that large, to be commercially successful you need to be legal and insurable.

I know what this country is like and I don't believe they will mange it.
The prices are as low as $200k now. I expect what is $200k now will be $70k as the mass market picks up and then even cheaper. No road tax either.

nobody is doing it commercially - that is what I have been telling you.

nobody is doing it commercially - that is what I have been telling you. Not in this country, but they are in many others. Mind you they are not all battery powered due to range issues. It is these very things which have a future. Once you start needing aero engines you are talking big bucks, and they are noisy too.

No they are not - flying cars are like EV's, nobody is making any money out of them at the moment. Yes, it is quite easy to build a flying car, but it is impossible to make it profitably.

Yes, it is quite easy to build a flying car, but it is impossible to make it profitably. People tend to say getting the prototype working is only a small fraction of the overall work. The bulk of the problem from a business perspective is to transfer the tech to something mass producible. This is what Blighty should be working on. The problem is we as a country are behind the times and don't own a lot of the tech. The electric motors and batteries have already had many billions of investment poured into them, so they are already quite mature technologies. An AI flight control computer is just an antonymous driving computer reprogrammed. Lidar and camera inputs are the same so we can use the same AI that has been developed for the road and modify it for the sky. Again we run into the ownership of AI antonymous tech. Some is open source though. China owns the patent on cheap Lidar. I think it is clear that if we are going to get anywhere we need some industrial partners to supply some of the tech, but what I suggest is our universities work on all aspects of EVtol technology since we can never know what someone might discover next. One area we need to work on is light composite materials which can be mass produced. The deal is you either get started now or forget the whole thing. The tech moves incredibly fast and if we don't enter the race we will find these things coming out of China for a price we can't match, like it is today with EVs. We want to see a UK firm as the next DJI. DJI was started by a kid from a Chinese college who won an engineering design competition.
