Opinion to judge opinion.
Anyway, I'm just trying to describe things as I see them. The culture is starting to make some sense to me, but it's not something you can pick up very easily. I'm sure if I lived in China I would learn faster, but we Brits are not at liberty to just go over there and live there. They are clamping down on the work visas a lot now. Min conditions would be roughly something like you have a large sum of money, you are married to a Chinese national and you can speak fluent Chinese and have a clean record, impressive CV and so on. I do respect them for it though. Britain seems to let in any old riffraff and we suffer greatly because of it.
If you took opinion as fact without judgement then you would be accepting opinion as fact . Facts as you call them are often misused. I see the trickery being played with facts. If you only stuck to the facts then you would be incredibly stupid. Knowledge is far more than what can be encompassed by a fact.
Did you ever watch Gregory's Girl? There's as scene there where a small boy tries to impress the girl with facts. |

The thing is, on the matter of what is fact and what is opinion, the traditional way to decide is not through the study of semantics. It is to get into your garage and start building a prototype. These days there is a new technology called 3D printing. It is possible to print in a metal alloy, but the cost of the powder is extremely expensive at the moment. Hopefully in the future it will be almost as cheap as printing in plastic. If we could do that you could probably manage quite easily as you could print most of it. Motors and batteries are very cheap these days.

Yes but you can go on forever like a Westminster politician at the dispatch box. I'm just pointing out the content of the debate when it turns to personal accusations of honesty and believability is effectively the lowest common denominator, which at school was the kids playing at the back of the class whilst the intellectuals are sitting at the front doing the calculus. The issue becomes a case of, are we going to move forwards in technology by following the back of the class or the front. The front of the class will be thinking of things like creating a 3-flight computer redundant control systems to ensure safety and this kind of thing. The back of the class will be yelling, "ITS TOO BLOODY DANGEROUS", which it would be, if we followed their methodology. You see for the country these things can be self-fulfilling prophecies.
By the way, the other day in China I was listening to a CPC professor and his point about it was 'we learn best by doing'. It is very true that you know. The guy in the OP knows it. He has the right idea, so why so much angst?
