You realise this could become mass transport? A road has one dimension. A sky has three. Flying is not a high energy way to travel. Take a 4 seater light aircraft of the conventional type. Even one from the 70s will give you 30mpg. ... I used to fly just such a craft, a Piper Cherokee with a 180hp Lycoming engine, probably the most ubiquitous general aviation aircraft along with the Cessna 172..
There is no way a PA-28 would give you 30 mpg. Even at economy cruise (65% power) you would be lucky to see even half that. If you go to performance cruise, consumption would rise accordingly.
You really ought to do a little fact-checking before making such outrageous claims. Piper and Cessna pilot handbooks are easily accessible online.
As for travelling in a straight line 'as the crow flies' that also needs to taken with a pinch of salt. If you are in the aforementioned wilds of Wyoming or Inner Mongolia that might conceivably be the the case, but in most areas there are all kinds of controlled airspace that as a private pilot you would be wise to steer clear of. When, for instance, I needed to fly from the South Bay to Mendocino County it wasn't a simple matter of flying across the San Francisco TCA. I would have to either give it a wide berth or fly so low close-in (200 ft) that it became a dangerous exercise.
It would be just the same driving your flying car from say Oxfordshire to the Lake District.
You simply don't know what you are talking about.
I've flown a Cherokee and even bought the fuel for it. I must admit I can't recall the fuel consumption on that trip, but the fuel was not that expensive as I recall. The figure I was quoted from some other pilot. I admit it is not a hard reference from a user manual. Even so half that figure would be one of those 70s Jags perhaps.

Once again, you are full of it. Every GA pilot knows that LL Avgas is typically twice as expensive as petrol or diesel. Much more sometimes in remote locations.

Your own link admits that most of the crashes have absolutely nothing to do with the Chinese parts.. ..you need to get better sources than youtube.

I expect you did not even watch it. The article references its sources. These include Uncle Sam's agents themselves. It points out that since they stopped using Chinese suppliers the number of incidence has increased. It reminds you of the Boeing 737 Max and other issues in Uncle Sam's aerospace. Doors have been known to fling off and all sorts. The Yankee worker is not what he once was. Maybe the factory is a BLM sponsor.

There's no tax on it so that was one reason it was cheap. We worked out the whole trip was a fair bit cheaper than buying airline tickets. On the op video it was saying a helicopter is min $500/hr where the Xpeng is more like $25.
What we need to do is redesign our laws for these things. We need to start running the safety tests to see what is what. However, as you know, this country will be the world's laggards. China has gone a lot further down that road and has already got the airspace worked out for these EVs.

I’d like to see evidence of F35s dropping out of the skies outside of YouTube videos tbh.

Yes the university of google says that there are problems “The F-35 has been troubled by "problems with its stealth coating, sustained supersonic flight, helmet-mounted display, excessive vibration from its cannon, and even vulnerability to being hit by lightning” but nothing about the problems being due to lack of Chinese components….and nothing about dropping out of the skies .

It's a generator fault. It powers the entire craft direct form the engine's power. I guess you might have trouble though if you are scared to use my reference as it contains all the details which I can't be bothered ot spoon feed people who are allergic to it. The numbers are two initially, then later on 7.

There are no references to F35s falling out of the skies due to lack of a Chinese parts in the general media so I will consider the claim false and bullshit. Maybe I’ll find a few videos claiming China is a failing society, a corrupt dictatorship etc and tell you to do the same . By the way , which US defence industry magazines do you subscribe to?

OK then. I will point out to you though Uncle Sam is not too fond of public exposure of this kind, so it is a bit hush hush. There is far more that goes on in the world than what the Daily Mail, GB News, Sky and the BBC are happy to report. This issue surfaced in the defence industry circles where the people know far more about F35s than the average Brit. It was a forced admission by the official source in the 'how on earth can what you be saying be true when facts a,b,c... are known' type ambush. They denied it then admitted it.

It gets a bit tiresome after a while . The one I linked to is Wave Media. It's quite a professional and intelligent news channel from the Chinese about China. It does feature more than your average in terms of tales of woe from Uncle Sam, but the reporting itself is good and everything is referenced and explained. What I think is happening with these GB News readers is as soon as they hear a Chinese voice they think its the CCP and they are lying. They disbelieve it before even listening to what it has to say. It is their prejudice that is making them incapable of viewing evidence in an unbiased way, yet all the time claiming the source is wrong/heavily biased/brainwashing or whatever.
Anyhow I'm the kind who likes to crosscheck these reports and any others I can and I remember when I find out someone has bullshitted me. In fact if the lie was so dirty that the channel is unreliable I block it. The rest I try and listen to all sides of the argument. The Chinese certainly pick their stories to make their case, but I don't think I hardly ever come across any who lies except the ones paraded by the BBC can be a bit fishy, like the Chinese government pulled the BBC up on one occasion for using a false witness. I don't block the BBC though as one could pass that off as a mistake rather than deliberate. GB News is highly inaccurate about China. They do it by selecting interviews with those who bullshit rather than direct editorial lies.
