So this will be the scenario, sitting in a beer garden while someone is knifing customers, and in charges the police who go over to a table and say you're under arrest for smoking in a public place.

I'm a non smoker People smoking around me doesn't bother me that much. I miss the bars full of smoke - It added atmos and romance. Everything was like a scene from Casablanca Never used to bother me that much either, a lot of the friends from my youth smoked, especially on a night out. As I have got older it has increasingly become a smell I just can not stomach. All The Best

Let's be honest, can you imagine Nulla getting any enjoyment from anything at all? Lots of things. Spending quality time with family and friends. A nice, good quality, single malt. The satisfaction of a job well done. A glorious sunrise / sunset, especially at the coast. To name but a few. All The Best

Well it looks like pubs will definitely be going to the wall ,good old Wes Streeting thinks the snp came up with a spiffing idea in minimum priced alcohol and wants the same here as it’s all so unhealthy.
Don’t they realise that what goes on in Westminster is enough to drive anyone to drink, can’t have people going out enjoying themselves.

It is all a nonsense, he referred to 80,000 deaths annually related to smoking yet diabetes kills over 140,000 annually and he is busy inviting in, and allowing in illegally, hundreds of thousands of people whose proven susceptibility to diabetes is far greater than the existing population, and from an earlier age (25 compared to 40), from countries with poor health regimes and outcomes. If trying to save the NHS time and money is a priority then this is the wrong strategy at the wrong target affecting the wrong people. One can only conclude it is just another way of papering over the cracks of failing policies. (A cynic could say the policies are coming along nicely). If he saves the NHS 10,000 deaths annually with attendant treatment that will be easily swallowed many times over with ongoing long term diabetes treatment just from those newly arriving of whom approx 1 in 7 will develop Type 2 diabetes, if they have not already got it. On the numbers of the last few years this will increase the The Type 2 diabetes sufferers of approx 4 million by at least 10%. Since the 10% of the NHS budget is diabetes treatment this will directly increase the NHS budget by 1% or if you like £1.8 billion. The estimate of all costs to NHS of smoking related medical needs is £2.5 billion annually and the new policy will only reduce that by an unknown percentage. Overall we are being taken for mugs.

Stop press.
Interesting snippet...
Apparently a leak has indicated that the proposed ban on smoking in pub beer gardens is actually a smoke screen designed to take the focus away from the government stopping pensioners winter fuel payments.

I have enough of a joyful life that, unlike some people, I don't need to make out I am clever by using faked avatars that betray only my own lack of intelligence. Unlike some cunts. All The Best That was a good post, until you said, 'unlike some cunts'.

I think a lot of pubs are just going to throw the towel in when this happens.
People will be forced to talk to their neighbours online - of course, they wont be allowed to do this either.
We are allowing tens of thousands of un-vetted people into the country from areas of the world that are tun by criminal gangs, but we are restricting smoking outdoors for your safety.
It's now so obvious it could barely be avoided by anyone with basic reasoning.
