This clearly isn’t about annoying other drinkers in a beer garden . The pub would need a beer garden half the size of my back garden for a smoker to bother drinkers in another table.Utter rubbish. I can walk into a room and tell if anyone in there is a smoker; the stench is overpowering. If they are actually smoking anyone with normal olfactory senses can pick it up from yards away; it totally destroys any enjoyment from food. All The Best It's true how striking the smell is, I never really noticed it until I stopped smoking. |

People smoking around me doesn't bother me that much. I miss the bars full of smoke - It added atmos and romance. Everything was like a scene from Casablanca

I can see both sides of this argument
MOST people agreed with the 2007 indoor ban, but at least smokers could still go to their favourite pub or club and simply pop outside for a cigarette etc.
If this plan is implemented wrongly, then a lot of smokers, knowing that they cannot smoke inside or outside the pub, will stay at home.
On the other hand, I have been in beer gardens or on outside terraces and endured lots of people in fairly close proximety smoking, and its not very nice, especially if you are eating.
An outdoor smoking ban could be implemented in a fair way, for example setting aside part of an outside yard, patio, beer garden or terrace etc, but leaving other areas strictly non-smoking.

Also, how is finishing off pubs and restaurants (who have invested heavily in outdoor space) going to promote growth?
It is an even bigger joke given the way the police turn a blind eye to people smoking joints in public. Do these people actually live amongst us? Everywhere I go in public smells of weed these days.
