It could be, but I have arranged for my neighbour to pay the rent on my allotment in return for teaching her gardener how to prune soft and hard fruit. The neighbour is registered blind so gets her allotment rents and gardener's fees paid by the government. So I can manage without the coal allowance
Not a bad bunch the government, but a bit slow on the uptake

Once upon a time the Labour Party were frequently accused of either borrowing too much money, or spending what we cannot aford, or bankrupting the economy, or tax and spend.
Funny how the legacy of a Conservative government has left a £22 Billion black hole in the nations finances, and on top of that has also left public services in a complete mess.
The new government have got two mammoth tasks to try and perform (1) repair the deficit and (2) repair the damage to public services, particularly our NHS.
The last government ignored these problems, they did nothing about it, they watched the NHS sink ( as usual ), and sat by and let it sink. But the British public expect the NHS to be properly funded, to work for them, and to get medical help within a reasonable time frame.
Money has to come from somewhere

No politicians lie constantly. It is just a matter of getting your head around it.

Opposition is entirely understandable even expected. IIRC the government has let it be known all the hard decisions will be taken early on in the first years of government. I see there will be some tinkering about the cuts when it comes to those just above the cut off line. Whatever it is it certainly isn't socialism, but then the Government claims to be somewhere around the Centre-Left of politics.

A government cannot in reality tackle many of the problems without first addressing that which is increasing costs for little or no gain and that is immigration both legal and illegal. It is not just costs either it increases social pressures, more call on services and infrastructure and will increase his major bugbear which is the rise of the far right however you define them.It is like bailing out a leaky boat in that all hands are called to the pumps and to baling but the actual leak is ignored.
