Higher taxes needed - the Labour Government have just offered the train drivers a payrise of twice the rate of inflation..
Public Sector gravy train on the role..

You posted, "the vacancy rate of Junior Doctors posts has steadily risen". My post was an answer to your comment. You need to both keep up and grow up, being stuck as a fixed opinionated Rightist is doing your grey matter no good at all. Try and keep up - the claim that Junior Doctors vacancies have risen is the one that I am debunking. There are no vacancies. But that is what you posted.

That is why it was in quotation marks...

Talk today of train drivers getting rises due to the unions and this raising their salaries close to 70K, oh what irony if they get clobbered by a revised higher earners tax.

It was a good business by ASLEF - bung the Labour Party £100k and get your pay claim paid in full by the taxpayer with no changes in work practices or commitment to improvements in performance..

If train drivers are ''worth'' £70000 pa for driving computer controlled trains then a HGV driver or airline pilot must be worth £250000 pa

Any leftys on here care to explain how this sides with the bullshit she spouted last month ?
Any Righties on here prepared to recognise the the £billions black hole left by the Tories? At 85 years old and with ever decreasing funds I will be one of those hard hit by the changes being made. But that leaves me with mixed feelings because if I was in a private situation similar to the chancellor my instinct would be to sort the basics out first, then proceed to improve things after a realistic position had been reached. "A Treasury spokesperson is quoted as saying they've begun "fixing the foundations" to grow the economy, and keep taxes "as low as possible". Of course Righties will only see an opportunity to denigrate the Government.

Next in line for the handout is GP's - 11% rise coming soon.. IF it meant I got to actually SEE one I might actually approve. I used to train some of these reprobates in the days when WE trained them instead of stealing other countries' ones, And believe me there are worse places where you have to shove your hands than up a cows arse as per James Herriot.....

"A Treasury spokesperson is quoted as saying they've begun "fixing the foundations" to grow the economy, and keep taxes "as low as possible". Of course Righties will only see an opportunity to denigrate the Government. Depends what one sees as the foundation. Most people know that if one is in an unpleasant economic situation one trims back to the basics and removes unnecessary costs whilst keeping income up as high as possible. These are the tough decisions. Most people here know exactly what the unnecessary costs are that are bleeding billions with no direct returns and can be cut to the bone very quickly and very efficiently if the government are prepared to do so with no direct pain to British Citizens and no major negative effect on the economy. These can be summarised as small boats, legal immigration, allowing dependants in, legal aid to legal and illegal migrants. Is this fair? Of course not but in economic dire straits nothing is fair and if the foundations are a bit shoogly then you have to bite the bullet and the welfare, safety and interests of British Citizens are the direct responsibility of the government irrespective of supposed international obligations that no one else considers.
