Dear Forumers,
Apparently GB News is having some great difficulty in being allowed to ask questions to the Prime Minister and other government figures at any press conferences and other occasions. Labour politicians don't want to talk to the channel any longer, or to appear on their shows, since they won the election with a big majority. So what I expected would happen seems to be coming quite true.

Don't think they would dare close down GB news though they might want to. That could be their first serious protest. Really? GB news reaches just 4% of the UK Population. Now, I think GB News should be allowed to exist as long it abides by the regulations that cover its sector. But 96% of the population don't watch it. Are enough people really going to give a damn to give the Government a headache if it is shut down? I honestly don't think so. All The Best

Ed Davey who spent the election campaign pratting around in swimming pools, gets to Question Starmer every week. How often will Farage get to ask a question of Starmer this side of Christmas ?, you'll be able to count them on the fingers of one hand. Well that is because or Parliamentary Procedure. The exact same Parliamentary Procedure that kept almost everyone except Labour from being able to hold the Tories to account. Did you complain then as well? All The Best

All The Best Well isn't the advantage parliamentary procedure affords to Ed Davey the very thing I was drawing to the attention of the previous poster to me ? And now you pop up to inform me of the very thing I'd informed someone else of ...... and for good measure also dream up I'm complaining about something. An interval of nearly a month to make a post that is pointless and baseless from first word till last. All the best.

Dear ProVeritas
You claim that "GB news reaches just 4% of the UK Population."
But however many viewers that the channel currently has, it is still watched by more people than the BBC and Sky news channels. So this means that GB News is a very significant thing, and of course people who watch it are then able to pass on information and viewpoints from the channel to other people.

Dear ProVeritas You claim that "GB news reaches just 4% of the UK Population." BBC News alone reaches 34% of the UK population weekly. BBC Website has 1.2 Billion hits annually. GB News is, roughly, on a par with Sky News. All The Best

Dear ProVeritas,
No thank you, I did not tell a lie actually. You say how much of the UK population that the BBC reaches. But you are talking about the whole of the output of the BBC, with its news channel, the news programmes on its main channels, the website, et cetera. I am referring just to a comparison between GB News and the BBC and Sky news channels. In that case, GB News has more viewers than those other two channels.

Anyway, it's unlikely that GB News is going to end and that it's far more likely to grow, despite Labour campaigning to shut down free-speech with the use of government's Ofcom. Anyone who compares GB News to the BBC is obviously unable to appreciate that GB News is not force funded by billions of pounds of tax money that the BBC collects every year, which it has done so for nearly a century. GB News is a young scrub that has only been active a couple of years, and only came into existence because the BBC is too morally corrupt to function as nonpartisan. GB News is also independent from the state, unlike the BBC.

The best I can find is that the BBC News is declining but still ahead of Sky News and GB news is about a third of the BBC. But I repeat these are not simple measures to make as they rely on Barb results and that only covers about 7 thousand homes as I understand it.

There's three options here: 1) You are guessing. 2) You are lying. 3) You are wrong. 1) and 3) can only really happen if you haven't done even basic research of the subject; I gave you the benefit of the doubt and assumed you would have done basic research. Was I was wrong to assume that? However, if you have done any basic research at all then 2) can be the only answer. Because, According to www.barb.co.uk/monthly-viewing/:GB News reaches 3,681,000 views per month, approximately 4% of the UK Population BBC News reaches 12,852,000 views per month, approximately 14% of the UK Population. BBC News alone reaches 3.5 times more views per month that GB News. BBC total views is 52,762,000 views per month. Sky News reaches 10,113,000 views per month. For the record CBeebies, at 6,714,000 reaches almost twice as many views per month as GB News and I am willing to bet the CBeebies viewership is more intelligent than the GB News viewership. So, we have established the GB News DOES NOT have more viewers than BBC News, or even Sky News. So what was it? Was it a lie? Was it a guess? Was it just wrong? All The Best

The idea that GB News is a credible challenger to BBC News is utterly laughable; as would have been obvious to anyone doing even the most basic level of research. All The Best

Well, it is independent of the UK State, not so sure about its independence from Dubai though. Also, how can GB News be "independent of the State" when so many of its presenters are MP - agents of the State? Really didn't think this through, did you? All The Best

All The Best Your link did not work but looking at the BARB figures GB news was 0,74% of the time and BBC News channel was 1.20% of the total. I also repeat that BARB appears to be only 7,000 households in the UK which as a sample of some 30 million households is hardly extensive and also is in part a selected sample as many people do not want anything in the household that records what they are doing.

All The Best No it does not and they are capable of being accurate but usually are not because of the nature of selection in the sample. It is like saying to a group hands up who is carrying a knife and using that result as a sample of all who are carrying knives, it is an opt in sample that is full of uncertainties as there are many who will not opt in on principle whatever that principle may be.
