“ Private Eye is the top publication in its class.“ means nothing . Try: "Private Eye remains the biggest-selling UK news and current affairs magazine". Maybe you'll be able to disprove that, but we may all learn something if you try... Had you really tried to read the words on my post , rather than the ones in your head , then you may have realised that I never said that Private eye was not the biggest selling UK news and current affairs magazine . I said it means nothing . Maybe you might learn something if you could read a post .

GB News has the lowest viewing figures of any UK based TV news channels. It only betters Al Jazeera, CNN International, RT and a few others. Ramshackle Talk TV closed.
In a recent survey, 13% questioned said they didn't use TV for news...

GB news is watched by more people than read private eye . The fact that private eye has the largest circulation of its ‘class ‘means nothing . If you are going to be stupid enough to want to include its editor’s YouTube appearances then you must include all of the YouTube appearances of all of GB news presenters and contributors.

In all fairness the welsh government only tried to ban GBnews on its internal tellys . And succeeded.

Don't think they would dare close down GB news though they might want to. That could be their first serious protest. Oh i don’t think ‘they’ would close it down ‘They’ would get Ofcom to do it for them

But Ofcom's rules seem to be different for the likes of the BBC than to GB News. I was listening to Jeremy Bowen talking about what "impartiality" means the other day on R4. He said that it's often mischaracterised as having to present both sides of the argument but he rejected this. He used the analogy of two people reporting on the weather. with one saying it's dry and the other saying it's raining. Bowen said that the BBC does not have to report both views. What the BBC does is look out of the window and report the "truth". And he added that the BBC no longer reports both sides of the argument on climate change - which is obvious. The trouble with this argument is that it means that the BBC is setting itself up as the arbiter of "truth" - and the truth is not always as simple as whether it's raining or not. One noticeable thing about GB News is that they always scrupulously "balance" right wing views with left wing views. Both Farage and Tice when they broadcast on GB News (and Talk) were very careful about doing this. The BBC doesn't, but gets away with it - and even boasts about it. Private Eye is the top publication in its class. GB News is still running around bottom in linear TV output. I admit I rarely watch GB News and then only if referred to something by a client that thinks it relevant to their business. I’m a regular Private Eye reader even though it’s sometimes critical of the BBC… I don't see any parallel between Private Eye and GB News. The journalism in Private Eye is largely about stories that are not covered in in the MSM. GB News basically covers all the news but tries to cover it from different political views - in particular it also gives the more right wing point of view which is lacking in BBC coverage. An egregious example is the BBC coverage of the Israel/Gaza war which the BBC covers from the point of view of Gaza as told by Hamas. So when hamas announced that Israel had bombed a hospital and killed 500 people the BBC reported this. GB News waited and reported the actual truth which was that the hospital was hit by a Hamas missile and a much lower number of people had been killed. Did the BBC ever apologise? No.

I don't quite understand why you're bringing Private Eye into this. What about Cosmo or Prima, personally I cant see the connection, perhaps you could point it out...

Quite right, GB News currently have 1.3 million YouTube subscribers, and no doubt many more YouTube viewers who aren't subscribers. I usually have GB News on YouTube all day because it reports news as it happens rather than waiting for scheduled news programmes.

No. On Gaza, the BBC gives the sources of its information — eg, The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says 141 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air strikes since Saturday. The BBC allows its audience to make up its own mind from available statements and information rather than preaching at them like an imitation Fox News, or the usual Right Wing biased print news media…

Our office screens are mostly BBC News, CNN, and Bloomberg — though with occasional scans elsewhere for general coverage like Sky. It doesn’t surprise me that you’re content to be steeped in GB News all day… GB news states the same facts that the BBC does. Why would that be a problem? If that was totally true, it wouldn’t. GB News set out out its stall when it opened — in effect “only Right Wing info being given here”, mouthed by Andrew Neil, who quickly left when he saw his mistake. Contrast that with the I example I gave of how BBC reports information and leaves it’s audience to judge what’s factual…
