It doesn't really matter the source, what matters are the facts. The facts are, as demonstrated, that the school issued a bulletin saying it was no longer viable due to declining numbers over a number of years. They renamed the school and got a new head in, but it's failed to turn it around.
If you can point to anything in the schools bulletin that it mentions VAT, I'm very happy to retract my post.

What is your evidence for this? Applications for private schools have fallen since Labour announced their tax raid - surely that is the outcome you desired?

Alton School in Hampshire has announced it plans to close at the end of the academic year, blaming falling pupil numbers brought about by “a combination of adverse political and economic factors”.
The all-through Catholic school, which caters for 370 pupils, had suffered from falling rolls over a number years, but parents described the threat of VAT on fees as the final “nail in the coffin” for the school, which first opened in 1938.
Pupils, parents and staff were told of the impending closure last week as headmaster Andrew Reeve informed them “it is with a very heavy heart that we cannot continue”.
The Telegraph reports that trustees had “explored the possibility of a sale to another educational establishment” but no deal could be struck.
The announcement comes amid a series of other recent closure notices including Downham Preparatory School in Downham Market, Norfolk.
Founder and principal Elizabeth Laffeaty-Sharpe, told the Lynn News that concerns about a future Labour government imposing a 20 per cent tax on private school fees had heavily contributed to a decision to close the school at the end of term.
Alton School in Hampshire and Downham Prep in Norfolk have partly blamed the threat of VAT on fees for their misfortunes

Private school fees soar and VAT threat looms – what does it mean for you? One in four parents could pull their child out of private school, thanks to rising fees and the threat of VAT. Before you remortgage, move house or look to grandparents for help, here’s what you need to know.....

That's doing very well to blame Labour for something that hasn't happened yet. Can't be anything to do with the last 10 years of lamentable Tory administration, can it? Unfortunately, those schools from Blair's PFI days are struggling due to the rent. Laborites seem to keep quiet about this!!

Just listened to a very revealing interview.
Camilla Tominey just interviewd Emily Thornberry on GB News, and Thornberry dropped a right clanger. She grudgingly accepted IFS figures that say Labours VAT plans will force c40,000 kids out of the private sector and into an already overstretched state school system. Tominey then asked her if a future Labour government would have to build emergency mobile classrooms to accommodate all these extra kids, Thornberry said no, schools would have bigger classes! Tominey seized on the admission that under a Labour government class sizes would have to increase, Thornberry then became very defensive and said something very strange, she said bigger classes are worthwhile to ensure the kids in 'her area' (Presumably her constituency) got a free breakfast!
Classic socialist logic.

Classic socialist logic. Socialist logic means that the taxpayer now has to provide cornflakes/Alpen/croissants/yoghurts etc for schoolkids' breakfast ? Since when has the responsibility for feeding their own kids been moved from parents to the taxpayer? Surely the kid should have breakfast at home before school a, if any extra deemed necessary help out the farmers by giving kids an apple each at break and more beneficial to keep them after school for enrichment activities like music/drama/art/sports

She is quite happy to deprive those school kids of a better education to facilitate a uniform poor/ mediocre one.

I thought it was quite insulting that she believed that the parents who send their kids to State Schools are incapable of feeding them breakfast.
But then she does have form - she sent her son to a selective school at the same time as trumpeting her support for comprehensive education.

Insulting and patronising.” Let’s get those posh kids into the poor kids schools ..plenty of room .”

Ref the Emily Thornberry interview I mentioned up the page.
Just listened to a journalist ask Starmer if Thornberry was wrong to say class sizes will go up due to Labours VAT hit on private schools. His response was nothing if not crisp, lol. He said 'yes, she was wrong'. I almost expected him to add - so there.
