Im not sure i care anymore about the world, Britain, next door, or owt, everyone puts themselves first. Do i want to save the world?, no. Would i find it entertaing to see it crash and burn, yes, even with me in it. Ive given it my best shot, and it has defeated me, why bother?
No one else cares.
Therre are no good people, nothing works, all are pulling in different directions, paradoxically maintaing a sick system, a system where nothing comes to fruition. For instance, if we became communist, and disaster followed, would people reject communism?
No. Oh, of course, it hasnt worked anywhere, but still dominates. Do good people carry on in this manner?, no, they acknowledge reality. The globe is like a sack of rats, and the rats keep growing, keep gnawing, eating, secretely rubbing their hands in glee, like Putin.
Reading the posts here is an example of the chaos that society is in, all disagree with all, refusing to budge on anything. That the human model is flawed, and will destroy itself, it is today. And like all lab experiments, the ones that fail will be terminated by the proffessor in charge, or Bob, Art, Nigel, upstairs whatever you want to call him, the people in charge on this globe are nuts.
To be incinerated. The next experiment will be better, this one stinks.

Your lack of faith may make things worse.
Your duty is to carry on in good faith, treating everyone as if they are an eternal soul with the capability of change and insight. You might be surprised how often giving people permission to be fully human elicits humanity*
*The truly negative are just best avoided. If it is wearing you out rather than giving you hope, stop - you are being drained by a vampire.

Nothing works any more because the West is under attack and has been for some time. It's not conventional warfare - it's political and it is driven by clever disinformation and cyber attacks designed to disrupt the way the country works.
So, at one level, the trains are not running because the unions are trying to bring down the Tory government and at a higher level there's the disinformation that is designed to bring down the capitalist system and bankrupt the West by shutting down the fossil fuel industry. "Net zero" is a direct attack on the productivity of industry.
At a global level the muslims are determined to impose a global caliphate by invading the West (by displacing muslims from the east to the west. And our politicians are too spineless to do anything about it - and even if they tried they'd get savaged by the Left - who hate this country.
The country has become detached from reality, to the extent that our MPs seriously think that battery powered electric cars can ever work. It's insane.

Indeed, its not only big things. I bought a pair of wrangler jeans, not cheap, wore them once. Went to put them on today after washing, two holes in them. All clothes develop holes almost instantly.
All of society is corrupt, clothes are manufactured to wear out as soon as you but them. I had a pair of jeans some years ago, tight in the crotch, its a miracle if you find clother that fit.
Got out of my car, the jeans ripped in the crotch. I was in Brum, a man shouted out across the car park. Oi mate your jeans are ripped. Laughed at that, only in brum.
Food is pumped full of sugar, chemicals, hidden charges, poor service, sky high charges on everything. Crime.....drugs......be admitted to hospital and never come out. Politics, those in charge hate us.
Theres thee stongest man in the world contest, you are supposed to lift something heavy, the analogy is that ordinary people like you and me are asked to lift ten tons with our hands.
Thats the challenge of changing society for the benefit of the masses. Why bother, go with the flow. There will be a political jesus who can change things, its not you or me. In the meantime, all is chaos, crime, hell bent on plunging downwards......into hell. SUNAK OUT.
There, thats me trying to get things better, a cry in the dark.

Who washes a pair of jeans after wearing them once ? Anyway you should have bought Levis Trouble is Piglet is we all put on a bit of weight now and then especially as we slow down a bit . Its not the clothes that don't fit its us not fitting the clothes . Ive learnt in recent years to stop struggling with XL or XXL to see which fits best ,I now just go straight to XXXL a little loose but hey It works for me . So now your dressed for going out you will feel more confident with the challenge ahead ,its a lot easier bucking the trend or lifting rocks without your arse hanging out of your jeans

Explain to me how "nothing works"?
Are seriously suggesting life was better 25, 50, 75, 100 years ago? lol. There are always challenges, life is never perfect.
If you life in the West right now, you are one of the luckiest people to have ever lived. If you disagree with that you have zero historical knowledge and you haven't travelled much!

Piglet needs an hour wirh a councillor.
Looks like the first step on the downward path to depression to me.
In my experience, dont worry about what you cant change. Enjoy the world you make for yourself.

Piglet, we live in a messy world that is beautiful and ugly, awe-inspiring and terrifying at the same time. You can't change any of that, but you can adjust your thinking. As a wise old friend of mine once said, you can choose to make your life a prison or a palace: it's up to you. If you can choose to find some positives among the negatives, you will feel better able to cope with and control your own little corner of the world, and you will be happier for it. I wish you well.

I would certainly suggest that life was better 50 years ago. Then a bus driver with a wife and 2 kids could buy a house on his salary alone, there was no social media corrupting kids, you could see a GP the same day, you had a Bank Manager who knew you by name, there was no tsunami of mental health issues (aspergers, ADHD, the spectrum, transgender etc etc.). I'd be interested to see why you believe life is better today.

Imo apart from medical advances the 60s and 70s were better times.

I'd be interested to see why you believe life is better today. I firmly believe life was more filled with hope fifty years ago
I have said it elsewhere but frankly I would change places with my father, be born in 1930, and face a world with rickets, few antibiotics, and the germans and die in 2005 than endure the shot i have had to put up with
I came into a world filled with hope that this time things really were going to get better. My grandparent's generation had endured the war to end all wars in which while the country itself had seen little destruction thanks to the only way the germans could bomb it was to use highly inflammable zeppelins, the pointless slaughter in trench warfare mocked superbly by Blackadder Goes Forth's "full scale" map of allied military advances against the enemy (and its unbelieveably poignant final minutes of its final episode) denuded almost every british hamlet, village, town and city of swathes of its population.
The hope that this was the end was dashed in less than a generation with the revelation that they failed to kill off an annoying little austrian although if i am being honest, numerous students of history and military history and tactics in particular point to NUMEROUS critical failures made by Hiter and the German military and industrial machine which meant had Hitler not been on the scene, someone more competent might have taken their umbrage at the Versailles Armistice conditions to a higher level of competency and you would be reading this in Gernan now
The very fact I exist at all was down to an annoying arrogant bastard who thought he could nationalise the Suez Canal and to the incompetence of a British Prime Minister who misunderstood the fact that the hugely successful and utterly unbombed apart from bits of Hawaii United States of America, for whom World War Two had unleashed unbelievable economic success, was now running the show
The debacle that was Suez, and the realisation that the special relationship actually meant when the yanks say jump we reply "how high", led to hundreds of thousands of young men who all thought they were going to die in a sand filled shithole defending world trade a.k.a the unimaginable fortunes of a few hundred men, suddenly being demobbed and alive on the streets of london in time for Christmas 1956 or for the more unfortunate like my father, the early weeks of the New Year 1957. The spike in the baby boom that marked the tail end of the baby boomer generation in September and October 1957 was in fact as predictable as night following day in a world where latex, like nylons, was as rare as rocking horse shit
But as pacifico points out, the strapline "you've never had it so good" was in fact literally true. The shocking slaughter of a decade earlier had left the country in a position where unemployment was unimaginable. There were opportunities for anyone who was prepared to work to make money from it, and as a documentary of the time of the Brighton Mods and Rockers was keen to point out, a combinaton of there being more openings to make a living than there were people available to take them, plus the appearance for the first time ever of "HP" meant young men were able to aquire not just the motorbikes and scooters that made such a mark, but all manner of home goods too.
A young man had every reason to expect that if they were not gifted with brains, then honest hard work itself would bring rewards sufficient for him and his girlfriend to plan a future with a home, and a family, and a standard of living unimaginable to their parents and grandparents.
I grew up in a world where advances in science, medicine, engineering and technology had been driven by the brightest of those young men and women and thanks to my IQ and a vision of how to apply it to the benefit of my bank balance and I still do. I was perhaps the last for whom it was possible to carve out a future with brains and sod all else. But my success, and that of others, was down in no small measure to the fact that all around me, my fellow men and women of less academic ability had roites open to them to make ther living too.
I don't really know when it started. Perhaps it began back in the 1930's. The world in which there were four dollars to the pound, and in which a man who as a lad during the first world was tended pit ponies, and whose girlfriend with a head for figures who did the books for a meat pie making family enterprise and who persuaded him to get the hell out of the pit and look after shire horses for a brewery instead, were able from her share of her inheritance from the family form and his wages to buy and have a mortgage on a house costing £300, had by the 1950's become a world where that house was worth £3000.
Ten years later when the "dust" from those days down that pit caught up with his lungs, that man met the grim reaper, and his widow sold the house to his son in law, the price was £5000. Twenty years later when his grandson followed in his son in law's footsteps his house was worth £50,000 and twenty five years after that when his son in law had his meeting with the grim reaper it was on the market for £250,000. TODAY Zoopla list it as valued at a million and a half.

That’s exactly what Boomers are being told . “You old people had it easy “. Imo apart from medical advances the 60s and 70s were better times. the music was better as well.. An excellent example, but they were one of many such. You would need a thread all of its own (and yes i know there is one somewhere) whch we could fill to bursting to prove that what came out of the trannies we held to our ears was several dozen orders of magnitide better than the shit that falls out of the airwaves today.
Hell, in those days even the Eurovision Song Contest was worth listening to for the music

Music died when it became electronic - round about the '80s. Electrification was OK when it was just used for amplification but when it began to play the music it destroyed it. But the biggest destroyer of "quality of life" was Blair. He's responsible for the fact that England now seems like a foreign country. And all the social housing is given to scrounging immigrants.
