EVEL was introduced to address the West Lothian question as you well know, stop blurting out provocative nonsense, if you wish your posts to be taken seriously you need to stop posting bilge. Explain to me the West Lothian question. As once again you confirm you bring to a new level the meaning of the word imbecile. As once again you are so silly it beggars believe. Could you point to one law. Anyone will do that affects England only. As you continue blurting out provocative nonsense. As in every one of your posts. Take your time. Think before you rant garbage. You can phone a friend, go 50/50 or ask your source where you get your info. A wee clue to stir your static brain, and why it was dissolved. No taxation without representation. Now where did you hear that. As stupid English governments never learn. Even through the course of history.

I thought there were over 50 MPs sitting at Westminster who specifically represented Scottish Constituents. That seems like a fair representation.

I asked OM15 in his usual clueless matters on Scottish affairs. If he could point to one law. Any one will do that affects England only. And the clue being. No taxation without representation. And why it was dissolved. Can you point to one. Another clue. I pay UK tax.

The West Lothian question, also known as the English question, is a political issue in the United Kingdom. It concerns the question of whether MPs from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales who sit in the House of Commons should be able to vote on matters that affect only England, while MPs from England are unable to vote on matters that have been devolved to the Northern Ireland Assembly, the Scottish Parliament and the Senedd (Welsh Parliament). The term West Lothian question was coined by Enoch Powell MP in 1977 after Tam Dalyell, the Labour MP for the Scottish constituency of West Lothian, raised the matter repeatedly in House of Commons debates on devolution.
In 2011 the UK Government set up the Commission on the consequences of devolution for the House of Commons, chaired by Sir William McKay, former Clerk of the House of Commons, to examine the question. The commission published a report in 2013 which proposed various procedural changes, including the recommendation that legislation which affects only England should require the support of a majority of MPs representing English constituencies. This recommendation was known as English votes for English laws. Following the election of a Conservative majority government in the 2015 general election, new parliamentary procedures and a Legislative Grand Committee were enacted to bring it into effect. The measures were subsequently abolished in 2021.
Sandypine makes a good point, since devolution there are far too many Scottish MPs in the HoC, a more suitable number would be around three or four, Scotland is over represented, hence the increasing desire in England for the Union to be dissolved, the only problem being the Scots voting to remain in the UK, there is no apparent mechanism to remove Scotland from the UK against her wishes unfortunately.
Fox hunting.

Fox hunting. Well done a sensible answer at last. Two things. You are awarded a brownie point. I as a Scottish tax payer, pay for the wages of MPs in Westminster. I pay for the running of the Building. I pay for everything concerning Westminster. So how does it not affect me. So let me ask you again. Give me one example that affects England only. Under EVEL I am being taxed with no representation. In terms of the SNP. They till recent abstained from voting in so called matters that affect England only. As a matter of courtesy. That no longer applies. All good will has gone. The SNP cannot trust Westminster And I well aware of what EVEL is. As David Cameron announced it on the steps of No 10. Some 2 seconds after the result of the indy ref was known. Despite being warned by Alistair Darling, Labours tartan Tory. When FFA was expected. Before you go of on another rant about Holyrood. It does not cost you as a English tax payer one penny. If you want a Englishman to make his gub go in Holyrood. Put his name forward for election. How about you putting your gob up for election. You make it go often enough on things you know nothing about. In terms of the Supreme Court. It has made it clear the Union is not voluntary. And as it stands Energy rich Scotland has to ask a English PM who was not elected by anybody. Not even you for a Order. How very fascist. But well done on a answer for the first time. Despite it being wrong. I do not consider that a problem. www.channel4.com/news/factcheck/factcheck-qa-westminster-broken-promise-scotlandleftfootforward.org/2014/12/darling-warned-cameron-not-to-pursue-evel-following-scottish-vote/www.sundaypost.com/fp/camerons-regrets-over-voice-of-england-speech-after-indyreftiming-of-announcement-still-troubles-former-pm-as-he-launches-memoirs/www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/evel-retreat-david-cameron-forced-6038206

Let me answer you AGAIN.
Foxhunting.
The SNP interfered with a Bill to relax foxhunting laws in England and Wales, nothing to do with Scotland at all, but Sturgeon said all SNP MPs would vote against it just because they can. 2015, so there is the answer to your question, the exact same answer I gave you the first time you asked the question.

AGAIN. Let me repeat what I said. In terms of the SNP. They till recent abstained from voting in so called matters that affect England only. As a matter of courtesy. That no longer applies. That is what I said. Which part of that do you not understand. Now tell me how is the law in England and Wales nothing to do with Scotland. I pay UK tax. I really think you should stop posting for while. Then go and study exactly what devolution is. You might even reach the conclusion when it dawns on you. Scottish tax payers are UK tax payer. Every penny of tax raised in Scotland goes direct to the UK treasury. That means I pay for Westminster. Exactly as you do. It affects the Scottish tax payer. So let me ask you again as it clearly not getting through. Name one law that affects England only. One will do. And there was me giving you a brownie point for actually answering a question, albeit was wrong. But a good try. In less than a couple of hours. You slip back to being Mr Stupid and bringing to a new level the meaning of the word imbecile. Read what I posted. Fox hunting has been banned in Scotland for 20 years. As stupid prats wearing red coats leap over hedges blowing bugles. Upsetting eagles, harriers, stray dogs and the Jock way of life. . ukpoliticsdebate.boards.net/post/28514/threadwww.heraldscotland.com/politics/22645655.msps-agree-overhaul-scotlands-fox-hunting-laws/

What are your thoughts on Bliar relying on Scottish MPs voting in favour of University Fees despite Scottish MP's making Scottish students exempt from payment. Thus ensuring that students in the rest of the UK did pay whilst Scottish students did not.
Had the situation been reversed we would never have heard the last of it, the English tend to accept such injustices with equanimity, whilst your own rather unpleasant SNP MPs are vocal about anything that doesn't quite suit, justified or not. Bit tedious really, hence the growing support for the dissolution of the Union from English voters.

you can sit and deny reality , sandy , you can invent as many fantasiies as you like, but the fact remains eu membership was a key plank of better together in 2014 , and scotland voted overwhelmingly to stay in the EU , with support recently as high as 70 %.
I think my previous graphic shows a large part of the problem with the uk today . We are living in the end days of a dying empire , a uk state diminishing on every level , and the cottontops as borkie puts it , who didnt fight in any major wars as their parents and grandparents did to further the empire , but sat and took all the best of british that their parents bestowed on them , which their children and grandchildren never received , are clearly living in cloud cuckoo land.
The uk is fecked in my opinion. If it doesnt break up , its going to get swallowed up into the EU.
Thats the reality the geriatrics and chelsea pensioners cant accept. Clearly starmer and labour are intent on fobbing off the jocks , ignoring the taffs , quietly selling the paddies down the river , and taking englandshire back into the EU behind closed doors.
Thats about as good as it gets for the union , a desperate can kicking excercise for a few more years , while england/britian is annexed into the EU. Clearly the establishment have given up on the tories , a party who have been in dire straits since 2016 and camerons resignation , and have stumbled from crises to crises.
Reality is what exists. EU membership was a key plank in the sense that Scotland could not be an immediate EU member if it voted for independence. i agree. You are of course offering a false dichotomy. The choice isnt full eu membership immediately or nothing.
Another option is of course membership of EFTA , which would be immediate in terms of taking a few months , and would enable scotland accesss to the single market.
From EFTA membership it would be a small step to full EU membership as 7/10 scots want .

You must now stand by for severe incoming fire following your Jock hating slastering havering rant, of course a Separate Scotland would have to adopt the euro, and anything else the Germans require, it is obvious. The freedoms of choice enjoyed under the terms of the Union will be a thing of the past.

The freedoms of choice enjoyed under the terms of the Union will be a thing of the past. I am a Jock just a Unionist one. There is also the fishing to consider and it will be goodbye to all that. I would not be surprised if the EU tried to nab control of the North sea oilfields in some way and Sturgeon like many of her political predecessors will sell out so that a job in Brussels for her and her mates will be in the offing with the pension and that happy glow of knowing that they will be alright. Not sure about the Scottish people though.

In that event you are likely to receive even more spluttering mis-spelt vitriol than the rest of us.
Separation will result in fishing, manufacturing, ship building, financial services, tourism, banking, oil production and shortbread making all being seized by the Germans, or what is left after the flight to England. We have already seen Mc Vities, that old established Glasgow biscuit company, shut up shop and move to England, that is just at the very thought of separation.
As you say, Sturgeon and her brown shirts have an agenda which is most certainly not in Scotland's best interests.
