Could you give an example of the way the EU has "bureaucratised its way into our lives and our governments" The EU democratic system is similar to that of the UK i.e. 'Representative Democracy'. Major tried to cut EU red tape and managed to see it increase under his governments. Once a bureaucracy has the power to make regulations without too much interference it just keeps on regulating all in the name of anything you wish to name. (Health and Safety, fighting terrorism, saving fish reserves, saving the planet) That is a list of claims without a single example in sight.

That is the problem for me — I cannot recall any EU-imposed directives or legislation that have adversely affected me or mine.
Even things the UK chose to do to fall in line haven’t caused hardship or difficulty…

And lets not forget engineers blowguns that don't blow, cotton candy on a stick, rubbish so-called eco lightbulbs. There are plenty if you care to look.

Even out late queen stated they were crap she once told one politician if she turned the lights on at breakfast they had just about warmed up enough to light supper when they nhad been installed in Buck house.

She was far from senile.

Those idiot bulbs vested on us (and IIRC the Vacuum rules too) have more to do with Westminster than Brussels

Was it Westminster that thrust upon us cosmetically enhanced food that tastes like shite? Was it Westminster that thrust upon us all toilet cisterns that dont hold enough water to flush the first time? It's good to see we are getting away from some of the crap the eu forced upon us by our own manufacturers.

I've still not seen anything EU listed that's affected my day-to-day life.
At the moment, it's home-grown do-gooder council setting up low traffic neighbourhoods, installing cycle lanes by narrowing roads, setting up resident parking schemes and restricting parking space, and so on, that's costing me money and causing longer car journeys, etc, that's really aggravating...

It is a matter of public record that a bonfire of EU red tape has been promised for near on 30 years as a regular undertaking for most governments, it is also a matter of public record that EU regulations increase under every government. Are you saying that is not so?

Just one example would be river dredging. That is an EU competence whereby regulations controlled river dredging and spoil disposal. That affects everyone and the fact farmers received EU grants to grub up hedgerows and make their fields more like prairies speeding up run off and increasing soil erosion.
