LOLS apologies, that was me being a pedant. Thing is, the 1975 referendum was very different to the 2016 referendum. The former asked us if we wanted to remain in the Common Market (EEC) in which the majority said yes. The later asked us if we wanted to leave the EEC which by that time (1992 in our case) had morphed into the EU, in which the majority said yes. Actually, and this i know because i was thirteen weeks too young to tell Wilson to shove it, the propaganda bullshit said ‘we’re in it now it’s too much of a facf to leave’

Actually, and this i know because i was thirteen weeks too young to tell Wilson to shove it, the propaganda bullshit said ‘we’re in it now it’s too much of a facf to leave’ I was too young as well, but to be honest I had no problem with the EEC or Common Market. I think most people were of the opinion that a European free trade area seemed to make sense. Sadly, behind the scenes unelected megalomaniacs had other ideas. As we all know the EEC slowly morphed into very centralised very political union governed by an unelected president and an unelected executive who gave themselves a parliament, a flag, an anthem, currency, bank and court, and the EEC became a distant memory.

Since it also has a Parliament and speaks as one voice as the largest trading block in the world, thus carrying a lot of influential clout, why not?

So what wondrous improvements has Brexit brought to the UK? As for "sovereignty", that hasnt seemed to have worked out very well. The version 4 of the Brexiteers who convinced you that life would be wonderful if you believed their lies, have enjoyed their sovereignty and turned the country into a basket case.
For example, where has all the increased taxes gone post covid? In fact well before covid, Cameron imposed sovereign austerity and stripped back the ability of local councils to provide a decent quality of life.
WHERE HAS ALL THAT MONEY SUPPOSEDLY SAVED, GONE? And it still hasnt returned to local authorities. Instead post Brexit a lot of it has gone to reinventing the wheel. In fact the EU has just this month published a united plan to deal with "illegal immigration" while the UK spends a fortune on the issue and promises yet another Nirvana in Rwanda. In fact those lovely flats posted all over the UK media have been sold to private Rwandans. Yet more lies and false promises.
If this is sovereignty, you would be better off without it. Brexit was sold by a bunch of lying power hungry fools who couldnt run a sweet shop. And you are paying into a bucket with a huge hole in the bottom.

Since it also has a Parliament and speaks as one voice as the largest trading block in the world, thus carrying a lot of influential clout, why not? For some reason fundamentalist brexiteers find the prospect of becoming a vassal, tributary state of the Imperial American Empire more appealing than being an equal, indeed a leading member of the European Union.
Don't ask me why, I don't understand it either. Never have.

Been doing that for years. I'm not against European cooperation. I'm against the gravy train, the mindless bureaucracy and the lack of democracy in it. If it had been sufficiently reformed I'd have voted to stay, but it wasn't.

Yes. Meanwhile since 2016 we've heard nothing but sulking from remoaners who are so bereft of political ideas of their own they don't know what to do without being told how to by the EU Commission.

And to what heights (or even sunny uplands) have the Johnson, Truss and Sunak administrations led us to? Education is failing, the NHS is on the verge of collapse, the cost of living has gone through the roof, strikes are reaching the point they were when Britain was regarded as the sick nation of Europe, and sickness and depression are creating a large non-working sick note class. And the excuse is the pandemic and the Ukraine war — as if no other country has to contend with these…

You leavers were the first to moan over the tracking sofware used by the UK that was a total failure and was a product of Germany...OOh and what happened to the French vaccine that was going to save the world?
