A "go slow" convoy of more than 120 tractors is making its way around Westminster tonight as campaigners demand action on food security.
Organised by Save British Farming and the Kent Fairness for Farmers group, they are calling for an end to a number of post-Brexit trade deals, which they claim are allowing imports into the country that fall short of UK standards.
The campaigners have pointed to deals with New Zealand, Australia, and the CPTPP deal with 11 countries including Canada, Japan and Mexico, as well as saying they are no longer on a level playing field with European farmers, who still receive subsidies from the EU and can import their goods across the Channel.
The group also claims there is a lack of import checks allowing sub-standard food into the country, as well as products being labelled with a Union flag despite not having been grown or reared in Britain.

Birmingham Small Arms have relocated production of spring piston air rifles from Spain to Birmingham, that's a good thing. CAP subsidies to billionaire land owners have ended, that's a good thing, farms are no longer subsidised on the basis of how much land they have, and you, a leftie are protesting for the uber wealthy. NISSAN are investing in UK production. We're doing FTAs with our best friends and improving our diplomatic standing. New factories are being built. We're no longer subject to EU tendering rules which forced the absolutely crap Ajax project on our military. Much good has come from Brexit and it's bizarre to see such far right (capitalist) remoaning from you. And the idea that our subsidised farmers have anything to fear from the unsubsidised farmers in Australia is laughable. www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/jun/21/waste-cash-leavers-in-out-land-subsidieThe EU is finally reforming in ways it never would have if we'd stayed. And we have our sovereignty back.

For heaven's sake Vinny. Get a grip. The facts in the OP are in billions. Not small arms production sources. Nissan has been in the UK for years. The disaster oda "deal" with Australia has resulted in thousands of kilos of cheap beef exported to the UK, and ZERO beef exported to Australia. Recorded shipments of Australian beef have totalled 384 tonnes in June under the new TRQ. Under the allocated TRQ, 343 tonnes of Australian beef have been shipped to the UK in the four weeks ending 26 June 2023. This is 3% of the allocated quota, with 9,984 tonnes available to enter until 31 December 2023.Jul 4, 2023 ahdb.org.uk › news › free-t... Free trade with Australia: four weeks in - AHDB Brexit: no British beef exported to Australia under UK’s first post-EU trade deal due to red tape Earlier this month, a firm tried to export British beef jerky to Australia only to be blocked by border controls. www.nationalworld.com/news/politics/brexit-british-beef-australia-trade-4556041Another Brexit bonus. 10 thousand tons of Australian beef per year...and zero UK beef in Australia. No wonder the UK farmers are pissed off.

Let me tell you something about sovereignty It is fine until ypu get bunch of blockheaded idiots running the country who think that the world stops when they win the brass ring via lies and corruption and they dont have to comply with international law.
There is NOTHING the UK has done that is better than EU law. And the "trade deals" the lettuce did are all unfavourable to the UK.
Vinny is still looking for unicorns and is now beginning to make them up.

The housewife in Tesco's must be distraught.... I thought Brexit would make British produce cheaper. Farmers would flourish. Fishermen would scoop the treasures of the sea. Britain would rule the waves again. It could do ANYTHING because no one could tell the UK what to do. And then you applaud the signing of trade deal that means Australia can refuse your exports and forces you to accept theirs!! That's some progress! Some sovereignty! Created by the same idiots who sold you Brexit.

Ans I thought the UK was against longhaul animal transport. I also note that Canada isnt interested in a trade deal with you even though it is part of the CPTPP too. Oh dear. Are you sure this is what you meant by Brexit?

Inflation adjusted, exports to the EU are worth 12.64706% more than they were when we were members.
We have remoaners scaremongering like crazy that our subsidised farmers are going to be put out of business by the unsubsidised farmers of the CAIRNS group countries, such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc. They were wrong in 2016 they are wrong now.
The farmers who are really shrieking are the billionaire land owners with fox hunts and grouse shoots who didn't need the subsidies anyway.
Those who really need the subsidies still get subsidies.
And did you know, that it's over £1k per person to do a day's grouse shooting on a previously subsidised estate? What do they need subsidies from us for?
