Insofar as they remain separate I'm all for it, given that they're here already and there doesn't seem any way to get rid of them.

South Africa is rather special situation - virtually nobody who lives there is particularly indigenous. Settlers made a territory and then that arrangement collapsed. Afrikaans are of primarily Dutch descent I believe. If they want to preserve Dutch culture shouldn't they do it in the Netherlands? Of course. However, as i mentioned, the situation is more complicated when several groups of settlers meet. Perhaps South Africa could usefully split into separate enclaves derived from the various settler cultures. However, this approach gets a bit tricky when some of those cultures' approach is to climb over the fence into someone else's garden rather than building their own house. For anything like this to work without force, there has to be a shared value of minding your own business |

South Africa is a member of the BRICs when they get big enough assuming no serious nuclear conflict breaks out among the world super powers then I would expect the State to crush this.
I can see the attraction yet the vast voting population will not.

The point of South Africa's Orania is so that a minority group can preserve its heritage. Since the majority of England's population is monocultural, one would expect them to be able to preserve their heritage without a problem since they are in charge.They are?  The monocultural majority has the majority vote, no? |

That would only make sense, within the remit of this discussion, if they did that exclusively in a discreet geographical location. All The Best And if thousands of British citizens of Pakistani descent moved to a "discreet geographical location" in the UK, dedicated it to preserving Pakistani culture, spoke only Urdu and had an Asians only policy, what do you think the reaction would be from the posters currently defending Orania would be? Oh, we both know what it would be. I am not saying they are not complete hypocrites, they clearly are. I was merely pointing out the flaw in your argument as originally posed. All The Best |
