Because he's resigned as an MP, so the constituency needs a new representative.

Because he's resigned as an MP, so the constituency needs a new representative. Belgium managed quite well for years without a government.

Says the poster posting on a forum where I was threatened with a ban for inferring someone wasn't on planet Earth Is this Steve's new attack strategy? Troll the threads he has no control over with his beloved? If you are referring to me you couldn't possibly be more wrong. Steve has now started a Moderator Action post over at the other place with a Copy and Paste of my comments here. Pissed up on power without the brains to understand just how wrong he is. All The Best

I am sure it could do without for a few months Andy.... Who do you mean by "it", the constituents of Blackpool South? Talking of Blackpool - I read something the other day about Labour run Blackpool council pleading poverty cutting services and raising council tax by 5% from April. Yet they found £36,000 for a rainbow pedestrian crossing. I'm sure hard pressed Labour voters in Blackpool think it's a worthwhile investment.

How much would a non Rainbow crossing cost?

How much would a non Rainbow crossing cost? well it is obviously going to be cheaper - so can Blackpool afford non-essential spending if they are broke? ..or are they as not as broke as they claim?

Dozens of councils are hard pressed for funds due to 14 years of cuts, under-funding and reductions in government grants to local authorities. Labour councils, Independent controlled councils, Conservative controlled councils are all in a desperate situation.
The present government are 100% to blame, they have been in power for 14 years, and if we are fortunate enough to get rid of this government later this year, it will be a hard task to turn things around.

Most of the Councils going bankrupt are Labour run councils, the Tories have no input on how they waste tax payers money, now most Councils who've gone BUST, can't account for where all the money has gone, so you can only assume it's gross mismanagement, or fraud, or both. Labour would love to pin this on the Tories but no one is falling for that old Chestnut any more.

How much cheaper, if anything, is it going to be? Does it matter? - is there a limit on when councils should stop wasting taxpayer money? Does it matter? Well, it was your complaint that rainbow crossings were "obviously more expensive". If they turn out to cost the same as a normal crossing, then no money has been wasted. The only money wasted would be that over and above what the cost would have been.
