1998 Crosse and Blackwell's Peterhead factory closed (Labour were in power). 1999 Vickers tank factory at Leeds closed (Labour were in power). 2000 Ford Dagenham ended car production (Labour were in power). 2002 Royal Ordnance Factory at Blackburn ended production (Labour were in power). 2004 Samsung closed its Teeside plant (Labour were in power). 2005 Terry's of York ended chocolate production in the country. They had produced chocolate here since 1767 (Labour were in power). 2005 Rover collapsed (Labour were in power). 2006 Car part manufacturer Trelleborg closed their factory at Trowbridge and moved production to Romania (Labour were in power). 2006 Peugeot Ryton ended car production (Labour were in power). 2010 Corus steel Redcar closed (Labour were in power), furnace relit 2012 but closed again in 2015, now demolished. 2010 Cadbury Somerdale plant closure announced with production moving to Poland (Labour were in power at the time of the announcement). Despite sale to Kraft (now Mondelez) on the basis that the Somerdale plant would not close, it was announced that too much equipment had already been moved to Poland and the plant closed anyway. 2012 Ford Transit production ended at Southampton (Tories were in power). 2012 Vickers Scotswood closed (Tories were in power).
Common to all of these, we were in the EU.
Thousands and thousands of jobs were lost. The tax cost to the economy was phenomenal.
And we couldn't negotiate our own FTAs, set our own tariffs or even decide our own policies regarding VAT.
Do you want the poorest to pay the most tax? That's what was happening when we were members. Even tampons were deemed luxuries and taxed.
It wasn't working. Be glad that we're free.

I note that you have ignored the industrial decline which occurred under Labour.

None of that was. See the dates I posted. Additionally HP Sauce production moved to the Netherlands in August 2007. This was planned well in advance of the late August 2007 credit crunch and 2008-09 recession. In 2000 Massey Ferguson closed their Coventry tractor plant with the loss of 1800 jobs.
In 2012 the Knowlsey Sonae chipboard factory closed 220 jobs went.
Between 2000 and 2010, 50 paper mills closed.
Most of Scotland's Aluminium smelters closed.
Membership was a disaster.

I know little know we had more Concertive Government The miscalculation labour made in 2004 is starkly revealed in the guardian article above. It's actually quite frightening how unfit for government , and how badly they misjudged the ten new countries joining the eu , and the predictions of a mere 13 000 migrants per annum coming to the uk . Instead , immigration quadrupled , with millions coming under new labour. what a topic for you to bring up , and what a hill to die on . Labours Achilles heel of immigration. Keir starmer must facepalm everytime you post on this forum. On the other hand, it could be said that Labour made such a success of the UK in both economic and social terms, that four times as many people wanted to come here.

Leftie, leftie, leftie, just concede that you were wrong.
The high pound Europhiles thought was a good thing, was a factor in profound industrial decline and lead to far higher unemployment.
And immigration was used to undermine trade unionism to keep wages down.
Because, traditionally, when pay was shit, workers would strike.
Once we were in the EU they were told they didn't want to work and were replaced by cheap labour from Eastern Europe who were happy to do it for a fraction of the cost because it was still better pay than they'd get at home.
That happened in agricultural jobs. Trucking... Traditional heavy industry, that was decimated.
Membership was an absolute failure. And free movement was a failure.
The EU doesn't have a union wide minimum wage, it has economic Darwinism. It's a race to the bottom.

On the other hand, it could be said that Labour made such a success of the UK in both economic and social terms, that four times as many people wanted to come here. This is another nugget of wisdom of yours borkie that doesn't stack up to an ounce of scrutiny. People will always want to go from poor countries , to richer countries , irrespective of the economic situation in that richer country. We see that both in the uk today , and across eu countries that are on the verge of , or in recession , but the numbers keep flooding in. Im intrigued though by your implication that mass immigration uncontrolled is a good thing in light of your political views as an anglo british brexiter. Why did you vote Brexit , to save for example English law , from European law , if you are happy for it to be replaced by sharia law? Why do we bother with national identity , parliaments , and arguments like Brexit or scot indy , if you are happy for your identity to be erased or replaced by mass uncontrolled immigration and become a citizen of nowhere ? Surely doing away with parliaments , democracy and borders , and handing control over to big global corporations , who would make a better job of running the economy than any politician would , would be a better idea for your viewpoint? Then you could watch humanity travel the planet , country by country , like a swarm of locusts , as they stripped one country before moving to the next. there's a reason why we have parliament , and cherish national identities , so that politicians keep the lid on big business , and provide checks and balance to them. As a tory brexiter ,if you aint bothered about mrs sunak next door , the upstanding pillar of peckhams community , why you bothered about fritz or Pierre if nothing else matters apart from big business having its whims satisfied through cheap labour on tap.? Its a strange one borkie? and largely why sunak is having such a bad time of it with the grassroots tories cause he cannae stop the boats. No native population in history of mankind has given up , or watered down its national identity without a fight. Clearly , by voting Brexit , neither are you ?

However, I can only conclude, from your latest post, that you're clearly a special case where the rule set that is supposed to moderate Mind Zone doesn't apply.
