Where did you pluck that figure from? There are currently more than 1 million (1,152,585) British pensioners living abroad receiving the UK state pension, according to Department for Work and Pensions figures. This is more than the number of pensioners living in London (922,162). If a UK pensioner spends more than 180 days in say Spain, they are liable to pay Spanish tax, and if they spend more than six months in Spain they get reduced UK state pension, so theoretically pensioners could be cheating both the Spanish and UK tax systems. |

I think they should be looking closer to home for DWP fraud, like Amari Azibo and his wife claiming child benefit for 8 kids, when they only have 1

I think they are trying to catch out the pensioners who don't declare they live abroad but keep a UK property address to claim certain benefits they might not be entitled to. If pensioners have nothing to hide I don't really see a problem with it. I was reading up in this a few days ago as all being well we will be on our bikes as wife and I and are State Pensioners, if you are leaving the UK and going to live in an EEA country there is no problem with having your State Pension being sent to you either every four weeks or every thirteen weeks, if you are in receipt of any Benefits likewise. We are keeping a Building Society Account in the UK and our Pensions will be forwarded to us every 3 months into our Irish Bank Account by the Society.
