Rebel Labour MPs Face Final Warning Over Breaking Ranks With Party Line Rebel Labour MPs who vote against the whip or make controversial statements that break with the party's line are heading towards a final warning that breaches now may not be forgiven ahead of the election as patience wears thin in the whips' office. In recent years Labour MPs have lost the whip on a number of occasions as the party pivoted towards taking an increasingly tougher line on discipline under Keir Starmer's leadership. Labour MP Rupa Huq had the whip removed in October 2022 after calling then-chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng "superficially black" during a conference fringe event. Huq issued an apology, and five months later had the whip restored. However PoliticsHome understands that while previously an apology or period of reflection could result in the whip being reinstated, with the general election looming whip losses are now likely to be final and MPs who are suspended prevented from standing for Labour and new candidates will be selected instead. "The chief whip was annoyed that a lot of them voted with the SNP on Gaza, and he says he's at the end of his tether with a lot of them," a Labour source told PoliticsHome. www.politicshome.com/news/article/rebel-labour-mps-final-warning-patience-whips-office-wears-thin

In labours case it shows that Corbyn Supports are still Causing Division In the labour party . No wonder the Cheif Wip is losing his patience. Enough. I's enough if they Can't Support the official. Line of the party especially with a Election. Looming get rid.

Slightly off-topic but I was amused to see Celtic fans waving the Palestinian flag along with the Tricolour at today's match with Aberdeen.

Its interesting you justify keir starmer centralising and tightening his grip on the Labour Party , while on a different thread , the see 2 labour luvvie is trying to imply labour branch managers have the ability to set their own policy and agenda in scotland , contrary to what Johan Lamont , and many other labour branch managers have said. This reinforces the view labour are a top down centralised party where the London leader has absolute tight control over the views of party members , never mind allowing the underlings to set policy that is contrary to what starmer believes. Great stuff

The link between the Celtic fan base and the Palestinians has nothing to do with Corbyn.

It's no secret as you say , except to lefty , that the Celtic support , or rather a section of them , are affiliated with Irish republicanism. Irish republicans were , according to people like Tim pat Coogan in his book `the IRA` funded by the United States of America and trained by Russia kgb alongside the Arabs in the Middle East , hence the affiliation with the PLO. It's also why many of the Celtic support are supporters of the Basque group ETA .For similar reasons. Im a Celtic fan , and have seen Palestinian and PLO flags at Celtic Park going back to the mid eighties. Wall mural 'PLO - IRA One Struggle' on the corner of Beechmount Street / Falls Road. Painted by the Republican Youth Movement in 1982, this shows a Palestinian Officer and an IRA member holding aloft an RPG Russian-made rocket launcher.

I doubt most Celtic fans know or care who Jeremy Corbyn was. you do need to get out your shell lefty , and realise the world doesn't revolve around the labour parties internal domestic politics in englandshire.
